it wouldn't be illegal if you gave them to the distributors for free...but of course that isn't gonna happen...

i still dont get your point? Madonna doesnt need to gain popularity, she is already popular. Plus shes already done a load of work with William Orbit & Sasha, who are actually respected in the EDM scene, unlike tiesto - he may be popular, but his fanbase are the 14-18 year olds mainly.

Your posts never cease to make me laugh. Keep it up ;)

Originally he only got a very small quantity pressed before someone went on to bootleg his bootleg .. before he knew it he had Vandit's lawyers breathing down his neck and found himself trying to explain that he wasn't responsible for all of the copies floating around.

The type of label something gets pressed on doesn't matter .. you're still putting it out there to make profit. It could be a white or it could be like a normal release but at the end of the day if you don't own the copyrights or have permission to use the material it's still illegal.

I'm not condoning the use of white labels .. i have plenty of them myself. I just feel that a name on Tiesto's scale doing something like this is pretty unprofessional and doesn't set a good example for all those below him.

But the bottom line is, if no more than 1000 copies are pressed.. there's absolutely nothing anybodies lawyers can do about it. Doesen't matter what you sample/rip-off, nobody can touch you unless you've pressed more than 1000. Nobody would do it if there was even the smallest risk of getting legally raped for it, so to speak.

Pressing 2000, like the case is here.. i'm not however sure about. I've always lived along the fact you aren't allowed to press more than 1000 of any bootleg, no matter what sample/material it contains.

However, i'm sure it's not amazingly hard to get away with pressing more than the "so called" 1000 limit. Certain artists, who i won't name, have more than obviously done so.
