Being a Rams fan, it's the same old Kurt Warner story we've been dealing with the last 2 years. He is simply not the same gunslinger he used to be. Mostly from lots of poundings he took to his hands. Plus, he always loved to stand in the pocket until the last possible moment and those hits most likely took it's toll as well. As a Giants fan, you should know already about his fumbling probs from last year when he fumbled 6 times in the first game of the year.
I would put Eli Manning in there. Just look at Big Ben and what he's doing. |

Trust me if I were the coach Eli would have been in weeks ago. I think he needs some time on the field. I think NY is still caught up in the name of Kurt Warner and still expect the same guy he was a few years back. It pisses me off to no end they way he sits on the ball. I still stand by my feeling that NY should have kept Rivers for QB from NC State, although Eli will produce great things for us....if they ever let him on the field |

they'll probably put eli in if the giants start falling out of the playoff hunt
EDIT: like mcnabb in 1999...when he replaced doug pederson |

went to the jets ravens game and watched the jets utterly mismanage the clock and their possessions at the end of both halves... you don't know how frustrating it was watching in the stands.
and the giants... i don't know, maybe they'll respond better with eli now in the saddle. i hope they do. warner seemed like he was lost the last few games... the O-line can only do so much |

| I just hope Eli doesnt hold onto the ball for as long as Warner does and expect not to get sacked 4-5 times a game. On the other hand, Manning can move around the pocket alot better than Warner. But... although my boy Ben has started 7-0 and Craig Krenzel has started 3-0, I dont expect Eli to have the same success as these other rookie QB's, I expect something alittle more... human. |

Big Ben is 7-0 because he has a great defense to get him good field position, one of the best running games in the league to keep defenses honest, and some very solid WR's like Hines Ward. Plus, he isn't asked to do too much like "lead his team to victory." He's simply asked to steer the ship in the right course. Obviously, he's extremely talented too!!!
My final note about Kurt Warner, it is too bad to see the guy go from a 2 time MVP to someone looking like the 3 Stooges out there bumbling and fumbling around. When the Rams were putting up 500 pts for 3 straight years, Kurt Warner still held onto the ball for a long time. It's just that now things seem like a half second too slow... and that in the NFL is gonna get you killed. The Rams receivers under Mike Martz go 4-5 yards deeper on their routes and Warner had to hold onto it a bit longer. But now, his decisions are even slower. His accuracy isn't there anymore either I think from the result of his damaged hands (grip on the ball). Well the Giants don't have a young Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce and Marshall Faulk either. However, they do have Tiki Barber, Amani Toomer, etc. and that's not all bad. Warner is now a solid backup QB but not someone to lead a team to the playoffs.
Peyton Manning was thrown into the fire his first year and he threw a whopping 28 interceptions. ESPN keeps talking about all the tough defenses the Giants will face here on out. Well... good lessons then. Every QB takes his lessons somewhere. I promise that Big Ben will have some lumps sooner or later. It's just that I don't see the Giants winning anything with Kurt Warner anyway. I guess you do have to be concerned with Eli getting crushed until he becomes gun shy like some young QB's. But I don't think that's the case. With Tiki Barber they can keep defenses somewhat honest as long as Eli gets rid of the ball more quickly and can scramble more to avoid the rush as well.
Maybe in 5 years, Eli will be throwing for 5 TD's a game like his brother. Peyton is unbelievable.
But how about that scramble and long pass by Donovan McNabb last night. :eyespop: |

| mcnabb was SICK last night. |

| Mcnabb will continue to be sick as they keep playing teams like the Cowboys. That kinda doesn't happen when they play the Steelers. |

Bill Cowher finally has a fully complete team, after a bunch of years of something going wrong.
Pittsburgh has ALWAYS had a good defense, its what they are known for. Bettis looks like he had an oil change and is running teams over, Staley is doing very well on that team too and they have one of the best trio of wide receivers in the NFL (Ward, Burress & Randle-El) |
