DJ Mag are blowing this out of proportion because they're offended that someone considers something else more important than their "highly rated" award? |
...but it is their award that determines who the '#1' DJ is. |

| theres a right way and a wrong way to criticize someone and this is the wrong way. i understand that they are pissed about him pulling out but they could have voiced their disappointment in a more appropriate way. |

Haha thats brilliant :haha: The British are so bitchy sometimes :wtf:
DJ Mag for the past few years have been very anti trance though so it's not really very shocking. As much as I dislike Tiesto, I hate magazines like this that suck the dicks of these djs when they have to interview them and then criticise him in the next edition.
The whole cocaine thing - well most British dance magazines (including the now defunct Ministry) thought that the only real way to sell their magazines was by having huge spreads on drugs. It got ridiculous with Ministry and Mixmag. Plus you have to remember, most of these cocky journalists have huge coke problems :haha: |

Which leads back to the fundemental question on the value of the DJ Mag Top 100 :D
And I personally think that dj's attach less importance to it than the general audience does, it's just a handy marketing tool. |

| Hmmm...who is really more egotistical? Tiesto or DJ Mag? Sure they might be pissed that Tiesto blew off the Top 100 DJs party to prepare for his concert, which he had planned way before the DJ Mag party. And they are pissed that Tiesto is using the results of the poll to lead him to those huge stadium gigs. But it is not really the magazine that put him there in the first place, it is all of the fans who voted for him. What a joke of a magazine. |

Very true, i remember reading ministry and even M8 and they were constantly doing this massive articles about e and their effects etc.
It got very tedious and still is ;) |

What's all the fuss with DJ MAG?
They actually got something right
Lucy is right with Ministry, then their companies pulled out and they could not keep but the ever expanding, ever making money from MOS will continue and yes most high rate journalists from the UK do have huge coke problems, that's why they sacked the comedown queen I heard.
DJ Mag did miss the plot, the top 100 is an ego competition for deejays with great PR not just Tiesto or others. Tho that article is the best thing that I've heard from DJ Mag in years. |

Actually reading the quotes, it's obvious that the diatribe is from the regular 'Spank The Monkey' column (i presume this is still running as finding recent copies over here is a nigh-on impossible task)
This is usually a pisstakey, drug-obsessed, sarcastic, bitchy page in which most DJs, clubbers, clubs etc are taken down a peg or two! To be honest, it's sometimes the funniest thing in DJ Mag!
With the quotes taken out of context and posted here, it'd be easy to slag off DJ Mag as a deliberately gossipy, malicious rag when in truth, and i'm a longtime reader since '94, they've always treated DJs, big, small or unknown, with respect!
Trance bashers? Never got that impression from the magazine at all (unless they've hired all the 'Anything commercial is bad' ex-Muzik journalists since the last issue i read?? )
Anyway, like all dance mags, trance is usually ignored and given a 2-3 page article/DJ interview every year or two to redress the balance and if they hated trance THAT much, then i doubt Tim 'ATCR' Stark would do the regular trance reviews for them! :) |

Well without the magazines #1 ranking for Tiesto he would never have gotten those offers so i see where they are coming from. They made him who he is right now and he did nothing in return for them....thats what i see it as.
We all know Tiesto didn't get this popular because he's a good DJ. He got popular because of the Poll... |

| I wonder if Tiesto realizes that he sucks and gets frustrated. I bet it takes him like 2-3 weeks of solid work to make a reasonable cd. |
