That's a good point. But there's still the chance that rehearsal went longer than expected or things weren't going right and he had to pull out because of that reason. |

It's funny how rumours start out of nowhere. Those chicks are actually from Toronto, and I really doubt Tiesto screwed them. They worked for promo company which was called Goldclub series, and it's closed now. |

The cheese bit is good thing i think, just shows he is a decent bloke at heart, what I don't agree with though is the fact that he got someone else to mix his CD for him, that takes the piss, and yeah DJ mag should be ed off that he cancelled, wouldn't you be?. And to only give them 2 hours notice, that to me shows were his priorities are, it was an important winners party to say thankyou to everyone who voted for him.
Time for someone who really appreciates djing to win next year!

Just a thought...other award shows (grammys, oscars, etc.) regularly have stars that are unavailable to receive their award due to their work schedules. The only thing that was different with the dj mag poll (and i'm assuming this, I have no clue actually) is that the movie stars have prior notice to whether they have won or not. Did Tiesto know that he had won prior to the actual show? Or was he just booked to make an appearance...
I see dj mag's side; someone of that caliber should not cancel with such short notice. If there was nothing could be done for the cancellation, maybe Tiesto should've sent a rep or something to receive the award on his behalf?
I don't know if this makes any sense...just trying to make a comparison to other award shows... |

This is usually a pisstakey, drug-obsessed, sarcastic, bitchy page in which most DJs, clubbers, clubs etc are taken down a peg or two! To be honest, it's sometimes the funniest thing in DJ Mag!
With the quotes taken out of context and posted here, it'd be easy to slag off DJ Mag as a deliberately gossipy, malicious rag when in truth, and i'm a longtime reader since '94, they've always treated DJs, big, small or unknown, with respect!
Trance bashers? Never got that impression from the magazine at all (unless they've hired all the 'Anything commercial is bad' ex-Muzik journalists since the last issue i read?? )
Anyway, like all dance mags, trance is usually ignored and given a 2-3 page article/DJ interview every year or two to redress the balance and if they hated trance THAT much, then i doubt Tim 'ATCR' Stark would do the regular trance reviews for them! :) |
This guy has it pretty much spot on. This has been taken out of proportion. The parts quoted were indeed from the 'spank the monkey' column. Everything in this column gets slated and isnt really a general overview of how people at the magazine think. It is indeed on of the best parts of the magazine as some of the satirical pisstaking is very funny. So dont take what was written too literally.
On the contary tho to Saucer said, DJ Mag HAS had a very anti trance elitist view for a long time now. They despise it as do the majority of their readers. But they are not stupid and know that if they still include some decent trance reviews in the back of the magazine then despite the fack they take every opportunity they can to say trance is , people who do like trance will still buy the magazine for these reviews. Every so often they will have an article either titled "Trance Is Dead" or "Trance is still king" bla bla bla. |

I have met him several times, although I have only heard him play once.
