WELLLL... Just A FEW THINGS - U did complain in a previous post, and u were told and "explanation" by another TA, it just that u should treat others with a little bit of kindness when you "want" something, I know that you think you have whatever priority jus' b/c of CLUB 246 radio people( that u may know) but just settle down , enjoy your night and Think positivly! another thing - NEVER EVER rely on CLUB 246 for Guest list - it is always bets to click on the available Guest list option at the top of the info thread on any particular night - Jeff B is VERY, BErry reliable.!!!!!! and a q-t too - together i think we are TWO FloorWhore's~ hahhahahaha
I have been there done that with the "CLUB 246 " GL and it NEVER EVER WORKS - even at the guv and what not - and I am not bashin' them - I have become friendly with one of those people and it's just a matter of faxes and e-mails and communication - down the line..,. sorry if you SEEM to confused how things work at a club and the line up - maybe you should pm someone and ask them to explain it in baby steps - b/c even I understand it:tongue3 :tongue3 :tongue3 . hee hee
^ ^ jus' kiddin!
just be at peace and things usually work out in the end!
PEACE!
:eyespop: :tongue3
p.s.
smile it MIGHT be the best day you have all week!;)
:tongue3 |
I will pass on the message to my bitching buddies and tell them to just say no to CLUB 246 guestlists and promises :stongue: :haha: :happy2: |

After meeting up with Karim, picking up Miss Julia, Creamfields and her roomate in Mississauga - needless to say we were running just a little bit behind. I just drove a little faster than usual, got there just after 1:30, and noticed the MASSIVE lineup. and to think Sandra thought it might not be busy - LOL
First thing i noticed upon entering were the renovations. Wow. Really like what they've done, especially the elevated VIP area's towards the middle of the club. You get a great view of the whole dancefloor, and really gives the place a bit more of an upscale feel. There are still more reno's to be completed in the very near future, so you keep your eyes and ears open for that ;)
Sean started the night out a little more chill than usual. But as always, he does a great job at feeling out the crowd. While he was laying down the head nodding beats, i was running around like a maniac handing out cd's, meeting and greeting those who were on my list and just getting overall feedback from those who's input matters most to me. As i was bouncing from person to person in the early stages of the night, i couldnt help but notice the already huge crowd...and this was at 2am. In the second hour, Sean stepped it up as the crowd got more into the groove. Bouncy sleezy baselines were coming from every angle, and those TA's who were at "the spot", showed their approval by dancing their asses off! As someone said in an earlier review, Sean's last hour was absoultely stellar..... typical of him to leave you drooling for more just as he gets off the decks.
Satoshi took over around 4am and had a very minimal electro feel to his first few tracks. Dirty, but a little to basic and repetitive for me. I couldnt really get into his set until about 45 minutes in when he got chuggier and a bit more creative. His set was still lacking something until about 6am - he started RIPPING the dirtiest bass heavy breaks ive heard on that system. This trend continued for a good hour or so, and from breaks, he went to bouncy progressive house. A little bit more of a commercial feel, but regardless the crowd at this point was going ape. From 7:30 until the time i HAD to leave at 9:15, he really showed us what he was about. I dont think i recognized one track during this period and everyone in the club stepped the energy level up a notch and kicked it into high gear. This is something people who come to Boa HAVE to realise....if your coming to see a headliner, suck it up, and stay until the end. The best music is ALWAYS played in the final hours, especially for extended sets. If i had left at 6am like ive heard from some in their reviews, id have next to nothing positive to say about Satoshi's set. But what i heard from 6:00 - 9:00 was enough to convince me of this guys brilliance in weaving in and out of all the progressive sounds out there.
As for the various complaints being brought up from this party, i can assure you the people at Boa will do their best to resolve them. They've already shown interest in improving the clubs atmosphere with the renovations already completed, and the ones upcoming will be even better for the club - trust me.
Great night overall, and the whole place was going mental from an hour in 'til the time we left. I met a lot of wicked people too - Erin (you are a dirty girl on the floor - wow.) Steph (lurker girl) and her wicked BF (cant remember the name for the life of me - im bad with names), thanks for the Gatorade!! Hit the spot! Many others i met, too many to name....Jem_hadar, Ub3rTrancer you guys were rippin it hard when i saw you! Karim - you and your buddies are welcome anytime.....just let me know and we'll do it again. This time the trip wont be so damn confusing!! See you all next week......
P.S. - Great CD Sean. Some of your regular tracks in rotation mixed flawlessly! A great representation of your opening sets from year one. Now all we need is Swells and Biruda released officially...... hurry - the people are getting impatient! |

Going to stick up for Erica (the door girl), Boa and any guestlist issues. Erica is part of Boa management (she isn't just some ignorant random door chick) and she is VERY clear with people offering guestlist for the club what excatly they can offer. Any problems with g-list are more likely to not be from her end of things. She does very well in a highly stressful situation and is well regarded for her ability to treat everyone fairly and respectfully. If you have problems with guestlist she is very approachable and will listen to your issues.
I'm confused by people who say there's no difference between guestlist and normal line. Guestlist gets you $5 or sometimes $10 off door price, and entrance to the club as soon as they are able. Everyone is searched going into the club (including staff like me) ... so there's going to be a wait when it's busy.

Yeah, Erica was cool, as you said she's very approachable and even explained me that it was some sort of a misunderstanding with club246 guys... but... and this is a big BUT... even tho I was told that the reduced cover (around 1:30 or so when I was there) was $10 off I ended up paying $25 (the cashier girl was like "Everybody's paying $25 now... unless you've got tickets!"), while my buddy waiting in a regular lineup actually got in way before me and paid the same price without any guestlist or whatnot. Now, if that's not confusing, I dunno what is...
And I won't even go into the club246 no cover/line bypass promise and *somebody* not delivering on that promise... |

It's sad that some people don't come through with their promises.
All I can say is that Erika has always been more than accomodating to my friends and I. Much love goes out to her. |

When you're not doing any drugs, staying until 9am is damn near impossible..! :P Especially when you're used to waking up at 7am in the mornings..
I took a powernap before I left, and I still ran out of steam by 7am. I really wanted to stay, but Red Bulls can only do so much...
I think next time a headliner doesn't come on until 4am in the morning.. i will take another plan of action. Instead of taking a powernap, I'll go to bed at my regular time of 11 - midnight... get a FULL night's sleep... wake up at 6 - 7am.. shower, eat breakfast... then head over to the club and go buckwild..!
haha.. can you imagine.. rise n shine, time to go party!
As bizarre as the concept sounds... it may just be the only way... ;) |

It was a pleasure. Sorry for not chattin alot, but the music was just too much and all i could do was feel it heh. When im not on drugs i tend to be more quiet and concentrate only on the beats. Next time ill introduce myself properly. :tongue3 |

Agreed. She's out there freezing her ass off and still dealing with ppl politely even when they are giving her .
Guestlist issues can be frustrating...which is part of the reason why I put it as an option in the event forum on here..It always amazed me over the years how some other clubs handled guestlists - names would just not be there when you got to the club, or, they would tell you they only received 'half the list'. lol. right.
As for Saturday night.. I got there with 3 friends at 3:30 and none of them had been to Boa before. They were all impressed and will be back. Satoshi was ok - nothing special - there were times were it was really kicking but where the music didn't do it for me the crowd/vibe did - it was a great party.
Congrats on the 1 year Boa :) |

Perhaps this is in the thread somewhere, but was there a special cover for this event?
Because one of my friends who arrived before 2 but was not on guest list paid $35. |

I also agree that Erica deserves a lot of respect. I met her at Danny Tenaglia @ The Docks and exchanged a few words with her. She's a very down to earth, friendly person. To my surprise, when at Boa the very next week, she remembered me AND my name! That's pretty damn impressive for someone who must deal with hundreds of names on a weekly basis.
Even this past week at Satoshi, while waiting in line, I thanked her for one of the best New Years I've ever had. Later, while in the club, as she was walking past me, she again remembered me and asked if I was having a good time. This kind of thing makes me really happy to spend my money and party at Boa. |
