As for this whole CLUB 246 and BOA guestlist thing one of my buddies talked to one of the CLUB 246 people and it turns out that basically CLUB 246 was promoting and giving passes away and all for New Years Eve and then on the Thursday they were told that BOA wasn't going to let people in for free and all because it was New Years but at that point they already did their promoting for the event and then when people got to the club the same thing happened where people were only offered reduced cover of like $5 off as opposed to getting in for free like they were told and understood was going to happen.

Well from what I was told and understand, the people who got screwed over on New Years were supposed to get in this past weekend and added on to the guestlist and given free cover and no line if thats what they were promoised and yet the same happened and people who were supposed to have no line and no cover entry were offered reduced cover of $5 off which would still have you paying $25-$30 so my buddies were all like:eek: It seems to me and others that BOA basically had CLUB 246 promote and all to get people to the club and then BOA tried to get as many people as possible to pay with $5 off after being told it would be no cover after people already planned to go to BOA and after they are already there when not many other clubs are open at that time.

From what I understand from my buddy it was supposed to be cover and line by pass for that person and a guest and apparently it was only good for one person and BOA said that there were like 12 free passes (of one and a guest) which would be 24 people total but BOA said there were only 7 and they were all used at that time which would have left 17 people getting screwed but would it really have killed BOA to let in 17 more people for free as opposed to only offering them $5 off? Think about it these people haven't been to BOA yet and if they check it out and like it then they spread the word and come back themselves as well but they were left with a bitter taste in their mouths instead.

It's not all that suprising to me personally to hear about this going down because I know guys who work at BOA and can't even get their friends in for free and have to go through Mission Impossible to do so and this makes sense because BOA makes the magority of it's money through the door as opposed to other clubs which make their money off liqour sales while BOA doesn't have liqour so it's not shocking to hear about people not getting in for free at BOA even after being promised so because of those reasons.

maxpain: Were you affected by this issue? Did you even go? No. Talking about competitors is not a very commendable business practice. You seem to like to talk alot of about Boa. To be honest, no club is perfect, but I would WAY rather spend my money at Boa than any other nightclub in Toronto for reasons that have been stated time and time again by satisfied club goers.

Talking about Boa isn't going to make me want to go to VIVA or PULSE. Sorry.

And we're supposed to believe all this hearsay from you? Please.

regarding club 246 and their promotions i've only dealt with them one time and there seemed to be some confusion going on over there...

the dj was actively promoting boa's upcoming friday night gig and mentioning the dj by name and offering free entry...i called in and won free guest list....when i e-mailed them to confirm this they said they don't promote fridays and never had and that i must have misinterpreted what the club 246 dj was promoting...they said they had me down for saturday at reduced...a couple of days later i got another mail from someone else at 246 confirming my saturday with a free cover...when i mailed back to find out what was what the person responded saying they didn't have my name down for any list on any night:D

i have no idea what went on new years eve with club 246's promotion but that was my only experience with them;)

i didn't mention that to slag 246 because i listen quite a bit and really like their stuff....just that it sounds like the misunderstanding could have been on either end....

seriously, what is everyone's problem with paying cover?

Here we have a kick ass club, world class sound system, international DJs killing it weekly, and a positive vibe week in and week out. This club is single handedly reviving Toronto's house scene and seriously putting toronto back on the map for being one of *the places* to play.
And here you guys are complaining about paying cover. WTF! You're not all guests of the owner, so quit whining about paying cover at such a great place, and do your part to support the scene. If you think it's too expensive, off and go somewhere else and party with the 19yr old starving students with their top 40 music.

Hell, I was suppost to get free cover the entire year of 2005, but do I care if it doesn't happen? No. Is it gonna stop me from coming out and supporting what I think is the best thing to happen to toronto clubbing since industry? No. People just gotta stop whining...It's pissing me off.

+1. I really love boa and would pay more than $25 to get in, and I'm pretty broke these days.

I'm confused by people who say there's no difference between guestlist and normal line. Guestlist gets you $5 or sometimes $10 off door price, and entrance to the club as soon as they are able. Everyone is searched going into the club (including staff like me) ... so there's going to be a wait when it's busy.

Hi Matt, I am glad you brought this up, I have a question regarding this very issue and didn't know where to ask. Let me preface this by saying my question has nothing to do with the club246 since that's not the list I was on nor does it have to do with Erika.

The last two times I've used the guestlist at Boa were for the Kenny Glasgow night (club list - [email protected] or something) a few weeks ago and Satoshi this past weekend (Jeff B's list). Both list offered reduced before 3am from the confirmation emails that I received. I arrived before 3am both nights and paid $20 and $25 respectively. My question is are those reduced prices? If so, how is the guestlist and normal line different as I never received anything to give to the cashier to indicate that I was to pay reduced cover?
