VIDEO FOR “WALKING SHADE” COMPLETED - With his first solo album TheFutureEmbrace (Warner Bros. Records) set to hit streets June 21, BILLY CORGAN has confirmed a North American tour which kicks off the next day in Atlanta. Fans should expect a vibrant aural and visual show that’s been designed for intimate venues—an experience that will reflect the album’s panoramic sound and push-and-pull tension. The trek will visit major cities nationwide—including two-night stands in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, CORGAN’S hometown—and will wrap July 19 in Vancouver, B.C. These new dates are in addition to the previously confirmed European shows and will likely be followed by dates in Australia and Japan.
Fans who are registered at www.billycorgan.com will be able to purchase tickets in a pre-sale Wednesday, May 18 through Friday, May 20, with most tickets going on sale to the public on Saturday, May 21. TheFutureEmbrace features “Walking Shade,” the album’s first single, with a bracingly surrealist video directed by Paul Brown. CORGAN says, “I like where this song comes on the album [track #9]. Someone I work with told me, ‘It’s that point where you want to put your foot on the accelerator and drive a little faster.’ Without it, the album tailed off into a blissful thing, and I didn’t want that. I wrote this song at the last possible second--I wasn’t sure what I was writing about. Then a week later, this whole thing blew up with this girl, and I had pretty much written what was going to happen but a week before. It’s the psychic breakup song. We’ve made a video for it with all my pasts coming back to haunt me.”
The “Walking Shade” video can now be seen on the Yahoo! Launch music page: http://music.yahoo.com. Mini-vignettes from the long form version of the video will also be released soon in various places across the Internet, complete with original soundtrack recordings available nowhere else. Keep your eyes and ears and minds open.....
