it's a good day not to drive on 285 West!

At least one person was killed this afternoon when four tractor trailers, a utility-style truck and two passenger vehicles collided on I-285 in Cobb County, shutting northbound lanes and sparking an inferno, officials said.
The fire and the traffic back-up resulted from the chain reaction on I-285N near South Cobb Drive, said Lt. Dan Dupree of Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.
Northbound traffic is being diverted from the interstate off Atlanta Road and being allowed to re-enter at Paces Ferry. Officials hope to reopen all lanes by 6 p.m.
At least one motorist in an SUV was killed, said Cobb Police Cpl. Dana Pierce. No injuries were reported, although authorities have not yet been able to search the SUV for possible additional victims, Pierce said.
All but one of the vehicles in a series of rear-end collisions caught fire, Dupree said. The SUV, the last of them, caught fire, and it spread forward, he said.
Eight fire units responded shortly after 1:45 p.m. and put out the last of the flames. Dobbins Air Reserve Base sent a foam truck after concerns were raised about possible hazardous materials.
All but one of the commercial trucks have been determined not to hold any such materials, but crews are going over the last vehicle, said Pierce.
Four or five firefighters are being treated for heat-related problems, Pierce said.

only one person died?!?!?!
sake. americans!!!! they would of ing just pushed the to the side in guatemala. i was stuck in traffic for like 2 hours cuase of htat !!!!!! the on ramp was converted into an offramp and they would let cars go into my street for like 30 minutes.. then the line that was where i was wouldd move like 40 feet. and another 30 minutes~! |

sucks for them and their family yes. but im surprised how much bull there goes for 1 person.
i would understand a bus.
im pissed i was stuck in traffic. plus i only had like 1/4 of gas and now my gas light is on
and i was almost late to pay my car. which i was late allready cause its due the 21st |

| driving on 285 (the interstate where this accident was goes around the whole city of atlanta like a huge circle) is scary it's self. most of 285 has the posted speed limit of 55. you think anyone goes it? hell no. right there where the accident was the lanes seem to get narrow right there and their is LOTS of construction near there. i hate 285!!! |

yeah right.. its amazing how peeps don't read signs...
especially around a construction site or are.. speed limit is 45, but do they care... NOPE.. only when an accident happens will they realize what they should've done. By then it's to late.
I'll be the first one to tell you here in miami (born & raised) we have the worst drivers EVER.... |
