Horrible...Suicide inside The Eaton Centre.. (pg. 3)

Wow, that's terrible. Can't imagine why the man decided to throw himself off the 3rd floor if he really intented to kill himself. That to me says that he's clearly unstable, because i wouldn't think it would automatically kill result in death. Plus, what a dumbass for even choosing to do it in such a public place. He could have killed someone else if he had dropped on them, not to mention the severe trauma that it causes anyone who witnesses such an event.

It just reconfirms what i've always believed about some people who commit suicide, they are not only cowards, but thoughtless/selfish as well.

If the guy survives, i hope they lock him up for his own good.

Ummmm maybe it wasn't a suicide after all...I can't imagine someone just jumping from a certain floor in the middle of a crowded mall to their death unless they are trying to make a statement...or blow themselves up which was clearly not the case...very bizzare. If it was a suicide however than that man should die! How selfish and stupid and pathetic :whip: Maybe his life was terrible I don't know but who does that in such a place!?!? :whip:

Suicidal people aren't in the same state of mind that you and I are - they are obviously so far past the point of even caring for their own well being that we cant expect them to care for the well being of others as well.

Many of us can't even begin to understand what goes on in the mind of someone who is suicidal.

There's nothing in the news about this;

Just heard from my sister that around 5:05pm someone threw himself from the third floor inside the Eaton centre and was blown to peices..,,,
The sad thing is she was 3 feet away from it when this happend!

and still i don't see anything on the news!!
or the net!!!
anyone?!!?

I think most new stations have a policy about not reporting these things. It is partially out of respect for the family and partially to prevent more suicides.

I would think that is pretty obvious. That being said, some people commit suicide as a last desperate attempt to get some sort of attention, and so choose a form of death that will give them the kind of recognition that they feel they have lacked all their life. I am calling those kind of sucidal people -- selfish. There are hundreads of people who will commit suicide in isolation, and die quietly, without anyone knowing about them - that i would find sad, and maybe i'd be more compassionate. Not these fools who conciously make a choice to do something stupid in a public place. Suicidal people aren't always mentally unstable - so i don't buy that they aren't thinking rationally. They stop caring...but that's no excuse to endanger the lives of other people.

I know many of you will call me insensitive, but if you ask me -- too many people handle these people with kid gloves. Suicide is wrong...in fact, it's downright deplorable, and as such i find it very hard to have any type of compassion for anyone who gives up on what is the most precious gift we have.

I say this having lost 2 close friends (and one relative who we had to rescue from failed attempt). So don't even think about telling me i don't know what i'm talking about.

I don't think they are cowards, selfish or dumb.

Just sick and in dire need of help.
It's our job to help a friend in need.

noble thought, and perhaps it can work if the person wants it...

i dunno though, just seems that some people are doomed...it's sad, but one of those bitter truths about the world. Despite everything you do, you can't help them -- because they don't want to help themselves.

Whatever...I hope the guy pulls thru and gets the help he needs. I'm pulling out of this debate -- i harbour too much anger on the topic because of personal reasons.

I disagree with this. Your life is your life, so do with it what you will. If u wanna commit suidcide, thats your choice bc its your life adn you're the one who has to live it

now if you do it in such a way that it endangers others, thats not right. same as when you do any activity in your life, you should take care not to delibertly or accidentally harm others... think about other ppl!

there are other ramifications to suicides, such as the ppl you left behind for example, which you will hurt by ending your life early.. but it was your life, ultimatley your decession! if you are chronically unhappy in the extreme for example and all you wanna do if end your "torment" as you see it, i think its selfish of others to think that bc they dont want you to, you shouldnt. live your life (or end you life) for yourself... you are entitled to that, but take the opinions of others into consideration, and THEN decide what you wish to do... doing everything for yourself can be selfish, but also doing nothing for yourself and only whut others want of you is selfish of them to expect!

All that said, i cant imagine ever reaching a point where suicide looks attractive... the extremes one mu5t be facing... u only have your one life, so, so as long as there is some kind of positive you can find in the present or in the future, live for that... the world isn't perfect, but it doesnt need to be and never will... just try accepting things as they are and changing (or attempting/trying to change) the things you dont like and feel passionate about.

Live life for life.
