Most of the vocal tracks do just as well in a club with out the vocals as they do with. so it is not like they are bad productions, its just a bad choice to use the vocals imo.
Did he ever say that they were steller productions? If you have ever heard them though, they deffinately work in a club, and thats the only thing paul is trying to get out of them. |
well i mean seriously...what tracks is he talking about? Tiesto - Just Be? Armin - Shivers? yeah i agree those are ty, but he seems to think that what he is doing is exempt from his own criticisms...that what makes me mad. he just comes off as thinking that what he is doing is what is pushing the genre foward, when in reality...i don't think he's doing anything great production wise at all. he's been stuck in the same place for 3-4 years now and he's not "growing" like he tends to think artists should be...and if he has grown at all, it's in the same commercialized "danceable pop" that he is ragging on the others for doing... |

Paul was touching on the subject of the Vandit releases, in this interview.
Seeing as some DJs/Labels pump out all the time. Maby 1-2 bad releases a week. That seemingly DJs starting with the letter A play once and forget about it. Then go on to sign the next track that he gets.
Vandit still releases if 1 track a month. So you can't say that they are flooding the market with crap. Thats what pissed paul off atm.
I see what you say that paul hasn't really gone back to his 7 ways style. If you were to ask him though, he could tell you a story, on what made him produce each and every track. NBY Crush & Connected are all good productions, over played or not.
If you havn't you should check out fritz, then compair it to ASOT. And you tell me the difference. Paul doesn't push Fritz, when compaired to other radio shows, which he could probably easily do. |

I just listened to the interview and have to agree with Sandstorm in almost everything he's said.
It's rare to see a DJ put so much heart into his/her productions as PvD. He works hard on his artist albums and doesn't release 2 or 3 freaking mix compilations every year like other mainstream DJs do. If we like his releases is a seperate topic, but you have to at least admit he doesn't release every ing weekend just to get his name up on forums or to make a couple of bucks. Same goes for Vandit vs other labels.
PvD is a live DJ. He has never and will never focus on just releasing his stuff because his true talent is displayed on a club or festival, where he can really make you go nuts.
His vocals may sound cheesy at times (some of the Reflections tracks with vocals I thought sounded a bit cheesy), but to everyone of his songs, there's a story behind them. What he means when critisizing DJs who release cheese, is to refer to tracks that are made with no heart and stuck with vocals that sound sexy or nice for these to sell better.
And no...I'm not into PvD as many trance fans are. But I respect him as an artist and DJ for what he's done in the past, and unlike Oakenfold, what he'll continue to do. |

well i'll try and take my own dislike of his recent tracks out of the equation...and when i do that, i can see your points about vandit not turning out a billion tunes a week just because they can. i agree that is a problem, so even though i don't particularly like their releases...i can admit that he isn't flooding the market with unnecessary releases...
once again i'm not trying to defend the dj's that he was attacking because i tend to agree with those comments...i'm just saying that he should realize where his own work stands in the scheme of things...so i'm sticking by what i said as far as that earlier hehe :p |

| OK, to me this sounds like he is hating on tiesto becaused he has taken the number 1 spot 3YEARS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!O h well, that is how it is mr. PVD. The only place where he is #1 is in Asia LOL:haha: :haha: I dont know why he is saying that armin and tiesto are so commercial and cheesy just because they throw such big events and they are successful at it. I DIDNT KNOW BEIGN SUCCESSFUL MEANT BEING CHEESY NOW DAYSSS!!!!!!!!And also,how does he know the people that attend this events dont enjoy their shows???????? Lets be honest here, when you dont like something you never go back to it,right??so if people keep coming back, that means they are enjoying the stuff these djs are producing or playing.So as far as me, i tried to give pvd a chance on new year's eve and he totally blew it, he shows nolove, emotion or interest in what he is doing in any way shape or form.Honestly i would have rathered stay home and listen to the most cheesiest dance station in NY than going to his boring ass show.;) ;) |
