Thats funny....since i was one the only ones on here defending Tiesto when he went prog (circa 2001)...and defending Tiesto for the first concert....

I am not following anyone...if i was then i would of followed them YEARS ago....

I do not fear to be different....in fact i love to be different.

The concerts are held in Holland and one in Belgium - at least 70% of the people there know of the music...it is not like the states....

What he is doing is tending to the conformists, the masses and the cheese balls who dont dance yet watch HOudini on stage pull a friggen rabbit from his hat.

Interesting thread and interview. Either way, I think that it's good PvD spoke the truth about he feels the industry's current situation. Then again, it's hard to say whether or not he's the mainstream also (I suppose you could call him a mainstream guy for a not so mainstream field).

Because you are a complete and utter moron, so the fact that you live only 10 minutes away from his town probably scares the out of him. How a person can actually be as dense as you is really a mystery to me.

This thread has turned into a monster. Alot of ppl have raised alot of valid and strong points. But in the end lets face it, this comes down to money. Record labels and event promoters do what they have to do in order to make a buck. In return they offer DJs like tiesto gigs like the concert series where he gets to perform with a bunch of kids from the choir and still make crap load of money. Hey if i was a dj of that calibur i would do it too but then again since i am not a DJ i think i will just shut up now and let you all continue about your opinions.

And this is the first time PVD has really been this straight forward, any other time he has done a interview he plays the ' oh we are all proffesionals lets all get along' routine.

Haha :tongue3

Armin - Shivers? yeah i agree those are ty, but he seems to think that what he is doing is exempt from his own criticisms...that what makes me mad. he just comes off as thinking that what he is doing is what is pushing the genre foward, when in reality...i don't think he's doing anything great production wise at all. he's been stuck in the same place for 3-4 years now and he's not "growing" like he tends to think artists should be...and if he has grown at all, it's in the same commercialized "danceable pop" that he is ragging on the others for doing...

+1 .. you took the words outta my mouth.

Who's PVD to say what other DJ-producers should do and where they should play? Don't like cheesy tracks? Fine. But why should everyone suddenly stop making them? And let them have their ty concerts and mickey mouse if they want to - what's that ever done to you? It's not like DJs are being forced to play these tracks in clubs. If tiesto wants to leave the club scene and try other things, just let him be. Aren't other genres allowed to exist?
