"I met this DJ for 30 minutes at a paid prearranged meeting, and I must say he's a not a very nice guy."
This thread is pretty stupid, no offense to the thread. |

It wasn't a dream, tis a true story :)
Something along the lines of he was f'd out of his mind, and had been playing one of his most brilliant sets of all time. Someone had been recording it to DAT / minidisc and when he found out about it he requested them so there were no copies around. When the people refused he pretty much told them to off and threw all the equipment into the pool.
|
Actually, it wasn't quite like that. What happend was after Sasha asked for the original MD's, the guy gave him a few unmarked discs and told him those were the only copies, even though Sasha clearly saw the guy label each disc as he was recording it. That would've pissed the out of me too, to be honest. |

yeah, but after all it's the dj's job to make people feel good, dance their ass off and just have a good night! i think that includes being nice to fans!
they just could stop touring if they want! nobody forces them! and if they don't love what they're doing they should retire!
just my oppinion!
of course it's true that it's not possible to shoot a foto with every fan and give hundreds of autographs! and they also can't smile all the time! |
DJ's aren't popstars. They're not required to kiss every fans ass. Or put on a nice show by jumping around. But I do agree they shouldn't blow off their fans completely.
You gotta realize though, that these guys work CRAZY hours, they're almost never home, their sleeping schedule is completely retarded, and to top it all off, when they're trying to focus on the music (the most important factor of a good night), they get some tard's harrassing them for a handshake  |

Well the first part of that, i just find wrong, it's not the man or womans job to make you feel the best you've ever felt, they throw down tracks and if you like it or not, that's your perogative,. they can't MAKE you feel better, they are just people with a love of music. I give them a lot of credit regardless, they have incredibly ed up work scedules, i mean how would you feel playing in say, London til 6 am, just to hop on a plane and come to toronto to do again the next night, probably pretty tired, and if you aren't, well than you're not human.

i don't see why Sasha cares if the set is recorded. you're in the business of bringing the music to people, who cares is some bootleg of your best set ever floats around? i certainly wouldn't. that was real dick in my opinion.
i think amped up djs and their fits of rage tend to foget that this is all about the fans. |

Wasn't it Sasha that threw some decks into a pool at a houseparty or something coz someone recorded his mix on a minidisc?
I have a vague recollection of that story being told, tho maybe twas but a dream... :nervous: |
I think he threw them because they were Gemini's and he blamed them for his bad mixing one night. If it is true, I agree, my mate has a set and they are e. No torque and loose as hell.
Then again, I think I heard this from Mixmag 'The sun' of dance music mags. So its probably bollocks |

Indeed, I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that I've met once that think something toally off the wall about me as well. Hence you can't judge someone totally on the way they act on some random occasion. Yea I know someone being a complete twat to you will leave a sour taste in your mouth and that one time is enough for most people to form a complete opinion about them, but most of the time it's not always correct. |

| We tend to forget that deejays are people as well with issues and problems and I bet the slack that most deejays get are not deserved by clowns who crowd the booth and harass the dj. I say let the deejay do his or her work, then attempt to approach them afterwards to sign a CD, most are more than happy, if they don't have a plane to catch. |

everyone is a promoter, everyone throws great parties, everyone is a dj.
"do you have a free cd in your bag for me?"
i have a website, im easy to contact, my website has sets for download.
i dont know any serious promoters who walk up to dj's at gigs and ask them for promo cd's. that being said in the off chance these guys were the best promoters ever throwing the biggest parties ever then its my loss.
give me your card (as many many do) i pass it to lisa, lisa sends them a cd or links them to our downloadable sets. |
is Lisa Single ? :nervous: |

Awww...
Max Graham has always been nice to me, and I talked with Paul Oakenfold a few times he was always nice.
Johan is nice too.. but needs to have things a certian way or he will get up set.
I never had a bad encounter with a Dj :) So I am lucky. |
