If you're in a "warzone", chances are you won't get that one call to just anyone. This isn't a lobby in a college dorm where there's one payphone and everyone is waiting.

DjLiMZ.
I woulda asked the teacher if he was raised by 2 gay men. No man (who has a mother!) can not realise how important that call could be for all the kid knew that could have being his last chance to hear his mothers voice given the situation she's in right now. Just not ing on!

Chances are 1 in a billion that she'd be able to contact her son if she was in dire danger.

LOL, OK. I would assume its obvious she wasnt calling him to say her last words while being under fire from insurgents. But all Americans in Iraq are in danger at this time. American soldiers are dying everyday in Iraq & they are dying by surprise. The insurgents are hitting the soldiers when least expected. And you said she might be a cook. Well tell that too the cooks & soldiers that died last month by the suicide bomber raid to the soldier while eating lunch, killing more than dozens.

Wait a minute, nobody has explained to me what situation this kid or his mother was in, and why it should let him not be punished.

I guess you, me nor the teacher can really fully understand the situation since we dont have a mother thats a soldier fighting a bs war in Iraq.
Aiwendil
may 3, 2005: 2 american military casualties in iraq
may 3, 2005: 100 gun violence deaths in america

which is more dangerous. any call anyone makes anywhere from either america or iraq could be their last.

We have no idea what her role in Iraq is, as of yet? There are certain jobs that are MUCH safer than others.

I wasn't the one that actually used the "cook" example nor did I expand on it.
