Who cares. The teacher was just doing her job enforcing the rules. How is the teacher supposed to know if it's legitimately from Iraq, or just his friend bullting anyways?
From the teacher's POV it's disturbing class time. Period. The call certainly takes priority over class for that one kid, no one else though. If he would have just asked to be excused for a few minutes instead of being an idiot and blowing up, then this never would have happened. |

No exceptions in a controlled and limited environment such as school. |

Like I said, what reason does the teacher have to believe it's his mother in Iraq instead of lying? If he explodes at you asking him to get off, then the kid deserved what was coming to him, those are the ing RULES. If he would have been a little more calm it would have never have happened. |

i say give him a short but swift kick in the junk. |
I have to retract this statement since i heard from a ty source that the teacher was a woman. So she doesnt deserve a kick in the junk.
She deserves a kick in the tuna.;) |

I would have to agree with Don Nachos on this one.
How is a teacher supposed to know who's calling? The reaction and the steps taken by the teacher were appropiate.
You guys should take under consideration the fact that there are cell phones going off in every single classroom in this country. Students are inconsiderate. As a teacher you're expected to be strict and treat every student equally. That's a tough job. So if you want to blame someone, blame those students that talk useless crap on the phone while in class.
Emergencies my ass. It's one of the reasons I hate cell phones. An emergency can wait till the end of a class period. And if the person, in this case a mother in Iraq, happens to be dying, then let her leave a message. It's not like the mother would like to her her son cursing before she dies.

The teacher deserves to be suspended for being such an inconsiderate !
Honestly this should make for a pretty nice lawsuit, in my opinion.      | why should this be a lawsuit. He should not have had the phone on. End of story.
ign sue happy people are causing the world to go to . Too many people afraid to take risks in business and life because everyone shouts "LAWSUIT!!!!!!" the first moment they get. |

It could possibly be the last time talking to someone when they drive off in a car or walk down the street. Your point is invalid. |

:wtf:
I'd think the risks of being in Iraq at the momemt are considerably higher than walking down the street |

with some quick search engine looking, the numbers may astound you.
"This means that the road kills more people than malaria and puts tens of millions of people in hospital. In fact, in 2000, 1.26 million people died as a result of road crashes. In some low and middle income countries, road crash victims occupy up to 10% of hospital beds."
The road is scary.

:nervous: damn thats alot!
However... In Iraq, not only do they have to deal with the killer roads, they have to deal with resistance fighters :(
So, there's still a higher risk of dying in Iraq. I think :conf: |
