"It is better to have love and lost than to never have loved before......."
On our ever progressing journey to happiness and self-fulfillment - a few select people come into our lives and we think - THIS IS IT (REAL LOVE) - THIS IS THE ONE!!! Time passes and somehow what we thought was so REAL never comes to pass......how long did it take you to get over a love/the lovers in your life????
I tend to think that you never get over real love. You only tend to learn to cope better with its loss. |

Well...I dumped my gf over 3 years ago...I'm still single...some might say I never really got over her :p
Others (me) say that I did...
I will always have a special place in my heart for her even though sometimes i want to bite her head off
In any case...I would agree that if it's REAL AND TRUE love, then you really never fully get over it...there's this little thing inside that keeps bugging you about it... |

In some cases you are kinda forced to get over him/her as in my situation. We broke up 3 yrs ago too but I was forced to get over her since 6 months later she had a kid with her bf... so yeah can't have any lingering feelings over somebody who has taken it to that level. |

Well sure you can...you can't really control your feelings always ;) I don't think that if I truly loved someone I'd be able to control it...I mean I wouldn't act on it of course, but it wouldn't mean it's not there :) |

If it was real and true love, you'll always have care left for that person. I just had a closuire conversation with my ex last night. We've been together for the past 5 years, and recently we decided to break it off, as we each need our space. I don't think that either of us will ever get over the other. We've been so commited to one another, and there is still a lot of love left.
Nevermind "to have loved and lost"
How do you deal with falling in love, but not being able to see that person. |

you cannot "control" love - it takes "control" of you.......exactly starsearcher.......now how one acts upon this - this is the tricky part sometimes....:) |

Am I the only one that sees a problem with the math here? You broke up with her and then she had a child 6 months later??? Is there not a chance that you are the father? |

yes exactly. I agree also. If you try to comtrol it, youll just end up hurting yourself AND the other person. The friends thing for me, doesnt usually work. How can you turn your feelings from hot to cold just like that?? I know I cant. The lingering feelings are there (if you arent the one that broke it off)
My normal way to get over it,
Out of sight Out of Mind..... |

I agree with that....If you've been hurt, and you think back on it really hard, it can hurt almost as much as it did the first day it happened. |
