Let the US Army back up to the Kuwaiti line and lay a lunar landscape in their path down through the middle of Iraq. That would solve most problems, but that was not the directions given to them by the government. The US Army is not well trained to be an occupying force. They are trained to lay waste. No wonder they hate to be there as an occupying force more than the politicians.
Knocking out oppossing forces for instance, no problem. We killed the entire Iraqi Army in about a week and a half.

Bush and the U.S army. They've had no positive influence to this world, and the world is not safer to live thanks to Bush.
911 was a tragedy yes,but because of it thousands and thousands of people are suffering in the middle east because of it and because of the so called war on terror.Sadly some Americans are playing into Bush's fear games and are supporting his ideas. |

Are you serious? 9.11 was planned after the first WTC bombing failed in 1993. |
It wasn't planned by "al-Qaida" and it wasn't carried out by "al-Qaida", in fact, the only thing "al-Qaida" had to do with 9/11 is that bin Laden funded it... |

Ramzi Yousef was the main planner behind the first WTC bombing...he WAS part of al-Qaida. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed one of the leaders of al Qaida is the mastermind of the attack.
The main terrorists (Mohamed Atta, Ramzi Binalshibh, Marwan al Shehhi, and Ziad Jarrah) were Al Qaeda...ever heard of the Hamburg connection?
So lets see...the main hijackers were Al Qaida...the #3 guy of Al Qaeda masterminded it and it was funded by Al Qaida...
You are right Al Qaida had nothing to do with it....
As a matter fact...The mob didnt kill Paul Castalano...but instead John Gotti and Sammy Gravanno did:rolleyes: |

What are you going to say next? That Bush planned the attacks just to plant his ass in Iraq? I still can't beleive people think that Bush and the US government planned 9.11. |

So I occasionally stroll through the COR forum, and occasionally I find a pretty descent topic to comment on. But damnit, leave it to COR to it up and trainwreck what could have been a descent argument worth debating. This really does belong in PDD, btw, but regardless, I'll just make this quick comment without calling anyone names (this time):
As someone mentioned, they are calling you because of the No Child Left Behind Act:
| quote: | Today the military has access to high school students because of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Schools receiving federal funds must give the military the same access that college and career counselors have or risk losing their federal money. Unless parents specifically request otherwise, schools must give the military personal contact information, addresses and telephone numbers, for their students.

And our military might not have pushed their recruitment tactics so harshly in those first coupla years after it has passed, but unfortunately our situation in Iraq has put a cringe on recruiting as of late:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washin...s-parents_x.htm
As a consequence, recruiting measures have been stepped up a lot, and the pressure put on recruiters has been intense. Too intense, in fact, to the point of scandalous behavior:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005...ain696991.shtml
So while this may discomfort you by the fact that they are calling you, perhaps if you just mention to your parents to tell the school not to have them call you this will not occur in the future. That way you do not have to be interrupted during sex or anything else, you do not get hassled any further, and you do not have to expand your annoyance to the point of saying how much you hate this country which, despite it's current serious shortcomings under this current Administration, has provided you with immeasurable freedom and liberties that are not often given and enjoyed elsewhere.
Added in Edit: Some more possible evidence as to why our military is stepping up its recruiting tactics:
| quote: | Syria has halted military and intelligence cooperation with the United States, its ambassador to Washington said in an interview, in a sign of growing strains between the two nations over the insurgency in Iraq.
The ambassador, Imad Moustapha, said in the interview on Friday at the Syrian Embassy here that his country had, in the last 10 days, "severed all links" with the United States military and Central Intelligence Agency because of what he called unjust American allegations.. . . Mr. Moustapha said he believed that the Bush administration had decided "to escalate the situation with Syria" despite steps the Syrians have taken against the insurgents in Iraq, and despite the withdrawal in recent weeks of Syrian troops from Lebanon[.]. . . He said American complaints had been renewed since February, when a half-brother of Saddam Hussein, who was once the widely feared head of Iraq's two most powerful security agencies, was handed over to the Iraqi authorities after being captured in Syria along with several lieutenants. The renewal of complaints caused Syria to abandon the idea of providing further help, he said.
"We thought, why should we continue to cooperate?" he said.
Bush administration officials said Syria's stance has prompted intense debate at high levels in the administration about new steps that might be taken against the Syrian government. The officials said the options included possible military, diplomatic or economic action. But senior Pentagon and military officials cautioned Monday that if any military action was eventually ordered, it was likely to be limited to insurgent movements along the border.. . . Relations between Syria and the United States have been souring for months, and some Bush administration officials said Syria's level of cooperation had been dwindling even before the latest move.. . . The American officials declined to provide an on-the-record response to Mr. Moustapha's statements on halting intelligence cooperation, citing the delicacy of the issue.
...One senior military officer said those communications had been helpful in mitigating a number of "cross-border firings" of artillery that have occurred between Syrian forces and the American-led military in Iraq. Any further scaling back of cooperation there or between Syria and the C.I.A. could have a tangible impact, officials said.

Emphasis mine above.
Additionally, in case anyone hasn't noticed, things in Iraq haven't been going very smoothly as of late. And with 13 dead soldiers in the past 3 days, our military really does need a bit some helping hands/bodies. So if you understand a bit more what's occurring in the world, you'll understand why it's affecting you, and in this case DIRECTLY affecting you. |

Well for a start al-Qaida is a name invented by the Americans (bin Laden did not use it until after 9/11)
Anyway, the people who flew the plance in to the WTC planned the attack, they went to Afghanistan to meet a rich man whom they presented their plan to. He liked the idea and gave them money. They went off and carried out the plan.
You say the people you list above are members of al-Qaida, but what you actually mean is they have links to al-Qaida (ie they went to bin Laden for money and got it)
People went to Afghanistan to fight the Russians. They set up training camps to do that. They got balls (and egos) the size of cannon balls following their apparent defeat of the Soviets so they stayed tarining in the camps, attrcting people to come - for the aim of GOIN BACK TO THEIR OWN COUNTRIES and overthrowing the governments there. Bin Laden had set up some of these camps (his aim was/is the overthrow of the Saud family). Obviously there will be certain smaller groups (like the ones who planned 9/11) who would like to attack America (as a you for paying for Israeli occupation or for occupying the holy sites of Islam (Saudi Arabia)) and when they came to bin Laden he thought "oh what a good advert that would be for my plans to get recruits to help me overthrow the governments of the Middle East" and gave them money to do it.
Hope that cleared a few things up for you? |

Er did I say he planned it? Sure there is plenty of evidence out there to suggest the Bush admin knew something was gonna happen, but I dont think he planned it! |

OH MY GOD...that is such a lie. Now you are saying Bin Laden did not decide to attack America but instead that a few rogue terrorists did.

Right...and John Gotti was just had links to the Gambino crime family but wasnt actually "IN" the mob. What horse .
Seriously....you do not know what youa re tlaking about...you have suggested that a few peasant rogue terrorists planned 9.11 and Bin Laden only funded it.
DO me a favor...back your insane thoughts up with ONE...just ONE piece of credible information.
Opus...can you please set this guy straight...u do it so much better then me. |
