Nice to hear Pilgrem tore it up. How was Freeland?? |
lets put it this way...we know freeland is the ultimate in breaks but last night, pilgrem went wayyyyyyyy over him and was insaneeee...
its amazing how last night there were ALL kinds of breaks heard (well the danceable kind)
it WAS teh best party ive been to....ive nver said this just after a party but until last night, Freeland & Infusion @ system was the best....but this was way better....more breakdance battles, more smiley faces, more props, MORE IN INSANE!!!
I was actually pretty impressed by Fanciulli and i heard alot of deep dish as i was goin back and forth every now and then adn i found them far more pumping than when i saw them at freedom/Victoria Day 2003 |

way too much hatred towards the dish here.....i will agree that their mixing could be a little bit better...and yes they did drop a couple terrible tracks at about 840am which kind of killed everything.....but for the most part they were amazing....everything you could expect from ali and sharam, and any true deep dish fan will agree with this.....the majority of the tracks that deep dish spin carry a certain element of creativity with them...not to mention that ali and sharam have a great ear for choosing tracks that can really test a sound system's capabilities....the tracks they play are laced with many very distinct and original effects, lay'd out on top of a very dirty, funky, or tribalish beat....a beat that you need to get creative to move your feet to and not just jump up and down like a 10 year old on a trampoline.....what sets deep dish apart from all the other dj's out there is that they almost demand creativity out of their audience....sure they'll throw in a few commercial hits....and a couple melodic, slow, relaxing songs to switch things up.....but for the most part...when deep dish are on the decks....you need to match the creativity of their beats with the creativity of your feet....once this has been accomplished, the arms get raised in the air and the rest is history.....deep dish is more than just a super insane party complete with non stop hard hitting beats that you can jump to....ali and sharam are more than capable of getting a crowd to go nuts....it's a shame that deep dish got stuck with such a rotten crowd at guv....next time they come to toronto they need to play at a venue(boa) where ppl who actually want to see deep dish will go and see deep dish....not spin at guv where 75% of the ppl there just go to detach themselves from reality and could really care less about who is spinning, just as long as someone is playing something fast and electronic for them to lose their minds in.....
the official review will come tomorrow....my head hitting a pillow is priceless right now.... |

| I feel sorry for all those who went to see anyone else than Danny T. Make the right decisions next time people! But I guess everyone is different and everyone likes their own type of music. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did this sunday/monday. Remember that we're all connected here by one thing: MUSIC!!! |

FREEDOM LIKE I'VE NEVER FELT BEFORE!!!
we got there at 2:30 and Deep Dish was absolutely amazing, then checked out Addy who kicked some serious ass at the drink. after that we migrated back to the stage @ guv and were there till 8 am watchin them do their thing. wow these guys are serious when it comes down to the hard house! rate this night @ the Guv 8/10 and the best part is when Double D climaxed out with sum Say Hello followed by PvD's The Other Side. thaught it was funny when Sharam jumped off the stage to go close the doors to the patio cuz the sunlight was too bright, then someone opened them again! These guys were definately worth the 40 bones i payed to see them. kudos to all of you who made it to the end, including my boy Patman!
What a great party, hope to see you all nest time!
Peace & Love |

Nice running into Karim and his friend (sorry can't remember your name, clubs make my horrible hearing even worse ;)). I also think I passed by LKD and probably a number of other TOTAs.
One of the funniest parts of the night was one of the people I was with asking if the white rhino on my t-shirt was a redbull :stongue:. |

That was probably best one of the best partys I've been in a long time :)
Orange room was off da hook again. So many great dancers and great, friendly ppl, and music OMG the music :) I danced my silly ass off, as amost everybody there. I cannot remember last time i met so many cool people. Sid, ure sooo much fun, and i'm sure i'll b seeing u soon (freq nasty @ system?) :) Vibe 10/10
Kool house was much more than i expected. It was the first time i spent more than 15 mins in the jungle room.
The drink was great too, torontonian djs never fail to amaze me :)
I was trying to stay away from the guverment, but i had to go tru it to get to the drink. While i was passing tru it deep dish was on. I promised to my self once that i will never pay money to see them again, and the three minute of their set that I've heard didn't change my mind. |

As much as I love(d) their style and their productions, I gotta say the following:
Nic Fanciulli - boooring.
Deep Dish - even more booooring.
DJs @ The Drink - now that's how you're supposed to play at a party of this magnitude, mo'az!!!
I hate to say it, but I am totally giving up on Deep Dish... I've thought about it, and it really isn't the crowd's fault for not dancing and just standing around. After watching the main room from above for a good 45 mins to an hour, I hate to say it but Deep Dish and Nic were boring the room out of their asses with that monotonous proggy/druggy house... niggaz, there's 2,000 people in that room, most of whom paid $30-50 to see you, and this is what you give them. Dissapointing...
on the other hand, the real party was upstairs in the Drink ;) the booty shaking, tribal/prog house, pumpin' tunes and people just getting lost in music... if I didn't have to work from 7am today I would've ended up at Danny T as well. But definitely no more Sleep Dish for me. |
LOL. Here's my theory on the dish, cause i remember seeing them spin a long time ago and they were off the hook. After they won the Grammy they've began to concentrate more on the production side of things, then on DJ'ing. They are still one of my favorite producers and remixers, capable of delivering heart pumping, drug induced, hypnotic house...but as DJ's they have fallen off, and I mean way off...Look at their recent mix comps and you can tell that they don't really seem to care much for trackselection and just slap togather tracks and mix them in somehow. When it comes to live sets it's even worse...each track seems to play for 8 minutes, the track itself is the most boring piece of e in the world, and there's no flow...no movement in the set whatsoever.
Final verdict. Sleepdish...I've given you guys a chance twice cause you really impressed me in 1999. There won't be a third time....not even if i get in for free. Not even if someone pays me...(well maybe i'm going too far with that one :p)
Oh and before i forget...add to the List of DJ's who tottaly sucked last nite. Mark Oliver. God Mark...what's with you ? A real chamelon this guy. He seems to play as good or bad as the DJ's around him. Fanculli and Sleepdish sucked...so did Mark. That ain't no lie...he's been awesome on some nites...but on sunday he was terrible. |
