Great party.

Thanks for getting us back on track. I agree, Myagi was very impressive. In fact every DJ after Rennie seemed to be infused with the passion the man has for his music. Almost all of them were churning out their best tracks. By far, the best breaks party i have been to. Top quality from start to finish !

Myagi actually played before Adam Freeland. D-Monic played after Rennie Pilgrem, followed by Angus.

There are a ton of good breaks parties going on these days around the city. The quality of our local dj's is unbelievable. It's the crowd that always does it for me at breaks events. Everyone is always up for getting down.

there are some amazing weekly parties, so keep your head up and check out some sick beats, and some really cool jams.

Kytracid and LKD, I always see you guys posting about breaks... you should definitely start hitting up some of the smaller jams around the city!!

My review...

Got to the Guv around 11:30...got in and went right to the Guv...I had a Guv/KH virgin with me so I showed her the magical maze that is the Komplex...she was impressed with all the different rooms and the very different sound in each...

Got to the Guv right before Nic went on...I had heard him many times during WMC so I knew what to expect...he started out a little mellow for my tastes, but around 1:20ish really dropped the bottom out...I have been enjoying his techie-house sound for quite a while now and it was good to hear it on the system at the Guv.

We went into the Breaks room to listen to some Freeland after Nic...he ripped it up as usual...I really enjoyed that room! The best was after he played I saw him around ALL night...LOL...:)..just hanging out, having some drinks and totally approachable. Got to speak to him for a little bit on the patio.

DD didn't arrive till after 2:30....Sharam went on first...this was unique because the last several times I have seen DD (6 times in the last 6 months) Ali usually goes on first. They played a 'typical' DD set. Proggy at times, techie at times, but always interesting. I have heard DD on several 'off' nights...they can be absolutely amazing (Soundbar-Chicago in late November, Space at WMC) or 'meh' at times (Soundbar-Chicago in Feb)...this night wasn't mind-blowing amazing but wasn't 'meh' either.

Being a big DD fan, I know what to expect from them. I totally enjoyed their set, without a doubt. Was it something that shook up my perception of reality and will change my life? No, but I wasn't standing in the corner yawning and looking at my watch either. I have agreed with many points brought up about DD...but the thing is, their sound has changed somewhat since GU-TO...Some say for better, some say for worse. But if you listened to that CD before you came, then you would have been disappointed because they didn't play like that. They did play like many of the live sets that I have heard from them in the last 3-4 months..So if you didn't like it, then you didn't like it.

All this "DD SUCKS" and "DD Rocks" BS...if you didn't like them, then that's fine, if you did, that's fine. But arguing serves no purpose. I left before the "awful tracks" but in talking with Nic and Sharam, they were a little peeved that the doors were open outside and just a little annoyed about a few things. Whateva, I enjoyed the 8 hours I spent there...:D

My g/f and I stayed till about 7:30ish....she had to catch a plane back to Detroit Monday afternoon, so we needed to get some sleep before the 4+ hour ride back to the airport in the D.

It was great seeing the TA's in attendance at the Guv....Katie, Karim, chanoa, Twitch, Cuzo, Richelle, Fuad, Adam, the Detroit Crew. Great to see you all..
Special Thanks to John for the hookup...Many, Many, Many thanks to you!

Alittle off topic but I gotta say that the best break nights I've ever been to were the weekly break nights at System in the downstairs room, each week Big League Chu, Dave Saddler, Lady Linzee were always there dropping the sickest break beats anywhere in the city, but now it's all gone, gone, gone

Deep Dish is very versatile. They can spin prog house, vocal house, tech house, and nasty techno. When you go to see them, expect any one of the above. they're not Santa Claus, and they don't want your wish list. If you want requests, call Danny D.

Or maybe they just sucked serious ass on sunday night. I'd say that considering I'm open to most types of music, many forms of edm and other forms of music like rock rap and almost anything else, that my opinions are pretty solid. I had very high expectations for Deep Dish because of what my brother had told me.

They came on 45 minutes late but I wanted to stay so badly that I arranged a ride with other people so I could do it. We stayed for about an hour, almost fell asleep because of how lame the set was and then we ended up leaving almost right away.

Listening to their essential mix I expected more. Mark Oliver played a better set that night :haha:.

OR maybe you should listen to more than one Essential Mix before assuming what you're going to hear from an artist.

got to TO around 9:45ish....and parked the car and started drinking and set off a firework!
got inside around 10:30ish with my biddy mike (Guv virgin)
he was amazed when we walked into the Kool Haus....i was enjoying it as well! some sweet tunes and i could see that it was going to be a great night!
eventually they lets us enter the guv..which was playing some sweet tunes! stayed there for a few hours....faniulli was pretty good i enjoyed his style and choice of tunes...got me going! stayed for like half an hour of deep dish then went back to the kool haus for some D&B/Jungle was nice!

***** OFF TOPIC - LADIES LOOKED REALLY GOOD *****

anyways sorry had to mention that! so stayed at the kool hause for a few hours and laughed my ass off when i saw some guy puking on the bench....
eventually went to the room in between the guv & kool haus (not sure the name? i am guessing its the drink??????? has the big disco ball and chandalire! and they projected the dj spinning onto the monitor! the music in that room was great! definately kept me going (i couldnt stop dancing!)
overall a nice night filled with smiles and great vibe and a lot of sexy women! :toocool: :D

Sorry but they just plain sucked. I didn't start listening to EDM last week so I've heard a number of their sets, essential mixes and otherwise. I assumed they had the talent to put on a great show, especialy since they've done so a few times here already. It seams that the title Sleepdish is well deserved, I had wondered why people called them that.

I think you're just trying to convince yourself.

:haha:

Nice to meet all you guys! I had a blast at the Guv and cant wait for my next trrip to Toronto. Nic (one of my top rated DJs) rawked it proper but I like the way he plays in Miami better...just my opinion. The think I liked most about the Guv (once I found my little dance area) was that if you ever got bored for even a second there was always another room with a totally different sound...none of which were hiphop...LOVE IT!!!!

Hey Darren...POST THE PICS ALREADY!!! :tongue2
