If he is targeting a small fraction of EDM listeners, then why is he still voted number 1 again?? He must be doing something right and if everyone is knocking his Djing skills and he is still getting number one on the rankings, then this forces me to look into his production...
...now we are into the production.... What do we hear
"This song is tooo mainsteam"
"This song sux"
"It's not even progressive"
"This song is a rip off of another song"
Ok, so why is he still number 1?? It has to be his song slection and his Production skills if it is not his mixing.
But things change.. I think next year is going to be Armin's year. But I am talking about the last few years including the present moment.
p.s. Armins new Sensation White song has a few parts in it that sound similar to another very popular song also...it happens. So many songs sound a like these days... Even is Tiesto "borrowed" samples from another song, he atleast gave credit where it was needed
I am done being a prick, but I just think you have to give credit where credit is due. I don't understand how alot of people can't see this about Tiesto.. |

you know what, I will give you that. I forgot to add that another big part of Djing is because they enjoy it. That is true !! but is also a buisness. And buisness and fun can go hand in gloove. |

Sure it might be funny to you, but Djing is a buisness also. What do you think all these radio shows are for...sure we like them, sure the Dj is having fun but they are trying to show you the new stuff that is out and what label it is on and what CD we need to look out for, etc..etc..etc...
they also of course play songs that do not need to be mentioned because we all know them old classics already... I am not saying there is not a level of pleasing the crowd when it comes to Djing but it is also a business that thrives on new stuff coming out all the time...things get old in a month around here
And during all this Progressive movemnet, Dj Tiesto produced 2 original albums and that was good enough for me |

you are such a dumb that I think you need to take the dildo out of your location and put it in your ear so you can hear me ing better.
You try writting an original Trance song and post it here in the forums and lets compare and contrast. Just because not all of his sets are perfect does not make him a crappy dj. How about the tons of sets that are perfect? What about those Dj sets?
And maybe you think he doesn't deserve to be #1 ?? Is that it?? Well, why don't you look back and see what has made him #1
He is smarter than you think and he knows who is "target" audience is, and his sets and music reflects this.

it has come to my attention that clearly most people dont know the difference between beat-matching and mixing :confused:
two tracks which are at the exact same bpm could still sound awful mixed 2gether, even without "trainwrecking" (which could also occur at the same bpm)
im sorry if this has been said b4, but 4give me for not reading a 900 page thread, probably full of bull |

Weak argument number 1 - let's see you do better
Never said I could, by that logic the only way you can voice a negative opinion that is taken seriously is if you've done better.
Weak argument number 2 - you havn't heard all his sets
I've heard a lot of them and almost all of them sucked. Don't assume that because I don't like him it's because I havn't heard track X or listened to set X.
Smart and talented are two very different things. You're right about him being smart though considering he's nothing but an overrated DJ. |
