you are right, its the track selection
wich is the most important thing when djing.

just because you're number one doesn't give you the excuse to not challange yourself and take things to the next level

sure he doesn't do 5 min transitions or play 4 different tracks at once, but why not? he's number one, i'd expect the number one dj in the world to be able to wow me when he plays, show me something new that i don't know yet, push the limits... he has one job, you'd think he'd try to be as best as he can at it

he's just sitting there riding on his success not doing anything more

and about him playing too much and recording a lot

i play over 230 shows annually right now and i still push the envelope and try new things, i don't just show up and half ass my way through a gig, people pay hard earned money to hear me play and i never let them down, fans come first

tiesto needs to pull his head out of his ass and stick in back in his record bag

That may be what you want him to do, but I don't feel the need to demand that he use four decks at once or invent some new way of mixing. What? get a custom Ableton mixer so he doesn't have to beatmatch? :p Tiesto has never been about that. It's always been about his sound. He's a producer first and the boundaries he pushes are in his productions. He's always experimenting with productions, adding to tracks and tweaking them to his liking. You may not like his tracks, but that is where he focuses his creativity, performances are where he showcases that creativity.

And again, I'm sorry if others have seen him screw up or "half ass" it, but every time I've seen him, I've enjoyed it very much.

I will ask you, in all your shows have you not screwed up. Maybe trainwrek? or just screwed up the levels? Tiesto has been playing that many shows for about a decade now, he's done an awesome job as I see it.

I do think he's a bit overrated and the TICs are pretty much just bloated circus events. But someone has to be no. 1 and he's a good candidate for the extravagant he does, he’s an eccentric guy. :p What do you expect, all of a sudden Holden or Zabelia become no. 1? Tiesto is no. 1 not because he is the absolute best, but BECAUSE HE IS THE MOST POPULAR. For better of for worse, get it strait.

heres a thought for ya'.

Maybe Tijs doesn't want to be #1 again. Most of the hardcore Tiësto fans (along with myself) sure don't want him to be right now

BIG ING DITTO. He is doing too many TICs in the US and it's caused him to cut back on regular shows. He's going to skip my area this year I think and I really don't feel like flying out to LA just to see some idiot with a violin or some emo guy play the piano.

of course i've wrecked, i'm human, happens, it's inevitable
levels no, i'm a producer and spot on levels are a must for me

however, i never said anything about his technical ability, i've heard the man play many times and know he can spin some records, which is why i made my post... like what happened to tiesto? he pulled his head out of his records and shoved it so far up his ass he can see his tonsils, then his ego kicked in, his head inflated and now he can't pull it out

the first time i heard him back in 2001 i think it was (he was only in the top 10 at the time), he blew me away

the big thing i'm trying to get across, don't just go to your gigs and stand there and play records, get into it, show me you actually want to be here instead of "i'm getting paid a lot of money to be here, bow down to me and cheer"

earn your extravagant paycheque, or someone else will

6. Coca & Villa - La Noche
7. Tilt - Twelve (Dousk Mix)

that mix i think. Listen to it, its definately off...

and the cd isnt programmed well at all...

I just listened to it to see if I could spot it. I can't say I hear anything really "off". The lead in "Twelve" has a heavy echo on its percusion. I think that's where people get this idea that the mix isn't spot on.

And my point is that where he wows crowds is by his signature tracks, like Traffic. When Oakey or someone else plays Traffic it's cloning and lame, but when Tijs drops it, it's awesome. :)

why?
its the same in track

and about that final scratch thing...since when this has anything to do with mixing? its not like he is using a pc to mix the songs....
well i am bored even to flame their pop idol
i predict that in 10 years tiesto is gonna be a judge in dutch popstar/american idol spinoff program
