My first time at aria :D

De la soul was there that night? Didn't know that.

I can’t remember my first time at Aria.. it was a few months after it had opened anyway.. which was still a time when the bouncers at Sona would tell their castaways in the lineup to go there instead.. heheh :tongue2
Back then it was known as the kiddy club.. but at least the bidding wars for djs started to get interesting when the competing club would double the booking fee to steal the headliner.

I wish Circus would close.
Or at least a new crop of promoters in Montreal emerging with a fresh vision anyway.

btw, Cox, Acquaviva and Hawtin are all confirmed for the guv complex on Thanksgiving Sunday as per amonly.com

unfortunately...so is Ferry Corsten.

As long as they aren’t playing in the same room I don’t mind!! Anything to lure away people so it’s not rammed.. the turnout for the June 30th party was just right for me.

Speaking of AMOnly.. I find it kind of interesting that some of the djs on their roster are also represented by Blue Bookings.. like Carola..
No disrespect to John, but it’s not like we seem to be seeing much come out of his roster here anyway these days (and I am highly skeptical any of the ‘tours’ he has listed will amount to anything).. I wonder if we will see more techno djs represented by other NA agencies, Viktor Mizo of Tronic fame seems to represent a bunch of them for AM.

damn to think i missed so much :( :( :(
ohyeah
The afterhours scene change since a year,a year and a half, we have less if no more techno dj's come to play at aria ,like sven vath, marco carola, marco bailey, ben sims, misstress barbara, christian smith. They play too safe, don't do big promo like radio or newspapers. They should start to promote more and show the club name on the front of the club. The underground style is over longtime ago,i think its about time to fill the clubs with new people, cause a lot of people stop going in raves and afterhours or stop taking pills,so its time to renew that.

Also to have a club who looks neet, chic,a place where is nice to be,i went few time at the circus last summer, very clean and warm. Its bad that they have problems with permit, cause its a nice place. Thats sure all afterhours have a little something nice and other places need to do something to help the club to look nicer.

I love to go at aria for djs, love going to circus for warm ambiance and vibe, love going to stereo for the bar ,nice sound and good djs.

It's certainly safe to say the Montreal afterhours scene is far from its prime right now... at least as far as bookings go.

That's what bugs me about Circus, their lack of bookings.. they are the biggest reason why techno headliners aren't booked anymore, add a few hundred people in Aria on a given night, makes a HUGE difference.. and most techno djs make no where close to what guys like Ferry Corsten get.

I remember when Friday night techno resident nights were full! :D
sooo nice to know any given weekend there was a good techno night going on.
Now that I live here I'm practically hermit styles. :tongue2

saweeet! with Colin I take it maybe? ;)

The ty thing for me is I may not even be able to go NEXT Nov either since I will most likely be in Europe again in December.. argh!!
ah well.. when the festival season over there kicks off for the summer I plan on making up for it! :tongue2
The Summer of Love party in Czech a few weekends ago had an incredible lineup.. and dj murphy! hehe
Skipper
Yep...w/Colin.

It's going to be a push to get a couple of days off of work though, especially when it's only like 6 weeks after I get back from my almost 3 week vacation.
