bascially what they did was pretend that they would allow events to happen but knew full well that the conditions were impossible to follow. Therefor they managed to keep the public from backlashing as well as effectively banning parties.
Sneaky if you ask me.
But slowly eroding our rights is what Canada's governments do best. Other than stealing from us that is. |

they definately did accomplish their goal in that regard. regrettably, there's no one that 'polices' the police in terms of determining what constitutes a fair rule in that protocol. the whole rave community here was so active in getting the whole initial ban overturned (successfully at that), but nothing seems to have been done in the way of legally fighting the protocols that came into effect shortly a year after. or perhaps there had been tho the fight seems to have been abandoned ..

there were so many laws to overturn that it was financially impossible. And most promoters simply moved out of town or starting holding events at the docks or guv. But now even thats under attack. |

*sigh* i hate law enforcement... they dont have any hip hop or rappers to arrest for gun violations or stop gang members or close down clubs that play rap leave us alone YOU ING S!
Or is it we know how to party and you just dislike it we party better then other ppl that listen to EDM
YOU American police!!!
AND GO YOUR R.A.V.E ACT... should of been called the R.A.P ACT! They have more problems with rappers and ppl that listen to rnb/hip hop/rap on a daily basis then with ppl that listens to EDM! |

"Another girl next to me said to one of the soldiers that she didn't know how to get home as they had just arrested her friend. The soldier told her to walk home. My friend tried to grab her to bring her with us, but the soldier began yelling that she had touched him (which she hadn't). WIthin seconds, five soldiers had jumped on her and were literally beating the crap out of this innocent women. She was punched in the face, thrown to the ground, and kicked while down. All for worrying how to get home safely."
Part of a testamonial from a link provided in this thread...I don't think we'd send in "soldiers" or SWAT people beating the out of ravers one third (most of them anyway) the size of BIG cops ...too bad they didn't put ALL that energy towards finding OSAMA BIN LADEN
Yeah I know that Canada has some ed up laws but all in all we are pretty lucky to have great parties here almost every weekend. And I've met SO many Americans who envy us & our awesome parties. |

But...we don't really...all our parties are mostly in clubs and private spaces...we don't really have many raves any more that's what Jay was trying to say :( There's WEMF and maybe a couple more but other than that...not much |

Don't worry, the Southern Baptists can cure that now.... through a steady regiment of beatings and Jesus.

"Raves" per say are non existent, I agree, but its clear that the party "atmosphere" is ALOT friendlier then in UTAH.I mean that its easier to have fun & dance in clubs or whatever up here then if you we're in UTAH.Our parties have moved from government onwed land to private properties like the Docks & The Guv complex & other smaller venues which is better then an outright ban.I would LOVE to party in the Toronto COnvention center or the CNE but that just won't happen so I am "ok" with the alternative... |

| comparing our situation to Utah is like comparing to manure. So dont feel so good about the situation here because it may be a bit better but not by much. |
