Rule #69: Don't pour water onto hair/body while on the dancefloor...I don't need to get wet from your oily hair :P
^^ I've broken this rule before lol, but I've noticed it bothers certain people. |

But that's the thing - he/she just rolls their eyes and that's it. It's not like they go home and cry about it afterwards. So I seously doubt that some douche holding up a request sign really bothers the DJ for more than a second.
Oh, and yeah I'd join that alliance. Simple procedure: You dance on the dancfloor, when you get tired, go somewhere, sit down, and rest, then go back. |

come up with all the analogies youd like it still is stupid if the Dj gets upset.
Requesting isnt telling them how to do their job. Its basically saying I like that song. Could you play it? The dj makes the decision. If he thinks its stupid ,he sees the sign and moves on. Doesnt get all upset and rant and rave in his head about people telling him how to do his job. buwhahaha, that would be funny to see though.
a Dj's tracklist isnt always set before the show, so who knows. Maybe the requested song would fit in nicely, where a bus route is fixed. Besides, the driver would just say screw off. Not get all worked up and bitch about it later. Its not like the driver even set the route to begin with.
Same with the cab. The radio is a set thing they need to use. they typically have the radio going anyways :p.
Its not like the person is up their with a record in hand trying to get it to be played. Its a stupid sign. If the DJ thinks its stupid then ignore it / move on .
Seriously, if you get worked up over that you have some personal issues to deal with.
On noes a sign with a song on it while im spinning. Im gonna go roid rage , and go balistic. gimme a break.
*keep in mind ive never made such a sign and never will:eyespop:* |
I think this is hilarious. All I said in a previous post was, "do they tell you how to do your job?" And here you are going off on a stupid rant about it. Rambling on and on about how the DJ is letting it ruin his night and going home to cry about it. Did anyone say that? No, they just said that holding up a sign like that makes you a tard. I seriously doubt that the DJ is even going to remember your useless sign at the end of the night when he deposits his paycheque.
You know what I think? I think you HAVE made those signs. Or maybe your friends have. But you've obviously got some personal link to this situation, otherwise you wouldn't be making a complete ass of yourself over it.
Get it through your head - requests signs are stupid and rude and virtually every DJ in the world will view you as a blithering ass clown if you hold one up. Even if we all concede that the DJ is a for getting upset over it - so what? It's still going to make you look like an idiot and only decrease your chances of actually getting the track played.

oops i'm the worst for that. mind u i don't let anyone in my dancing space (with the exception of alex, dancing partner extraordinare ..aka ubertrancer), so if anyone is tripping and falling its gonna be me.
i can't handle dry or sticky floors, esp to trance (harder stuff its not too bad, cuz i find i tend to jump around more, as opposed to gliding |

A DJ is an entertainer so I don't see the big deal with requesting a song although I do see your point. Not only does a DJ have songs in mind and is paid based on his ability to choose tracks and if everyone has a sign saying "please play this song" then all of a sudden he feels like he isn't doing anything other than mixing peoples requests together.
Same goes for shoutouts. Sure it's nice to ask him to send a happy birthday out to your friend but when everyone starts asking for shoutouts for every little thing then it might get a little annoying for a DJ.
While both seam harmless now, and can have the DJ amp the crowd up even more, they can lead to overkill if they become the norm. Just stick with the signs that say the DJ's name :D. |

Right. There is absolutely no logical reason for a DJ to get upset when some douchebag on the dance floor tries to tell them how to do their job.. |

Get it through your head that I dont give a if someone holds up a sign *unless it blocks my view* cause it doesnt effect me or my night. I dont even pay attention to them , but im sure YOU do.
YOu know we met at the bbq, but Im sure you forgot. |

Correction, you are the second worst. I'll go through at least two bottles of water a night just moistening the floor. I've always thought along the same lines as you.... if anyone is gonna fall it will be me (and I've come close once or twice). |
