Finally dug up my very first 'Dance' CD.

Like the rest of you, I liked Prodigy - Breathe, Smack My Bitch Up, Firestarter; Daft Punk - Da Funk & Around the World. But those didn't get me into EDM - I just liked the tracks. So, I'd have to say, judging by the tracks off of the very first non-rock CD that the converters were:

ATB - Don't Stop
Darude - Feel The Beat
Darude - Sandstorm
Porn Kings - Sledger
Fragma - Toca's Miracle

All the other classics I discovered later.

Circa the early 90's there was this (new - for me at least) music that triggered some part of my brain (never before used)...

I dare not say that it was one song over another, but here are a few (of many) that rocked my socks way back when:

Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison
Jam & Spoon - Odyssey to Anyoona
Moby - Go
Felix - Don't You Want Me
Utah Saints - Something Good

you post makes me smile RJ :)

thank you!

I know I had one mixed tape (of about 400 - way long gone now!!) that contained Praga Khan, Felix and Utah Saints (KATE BUSH ROCKS!!!)......also ACAPELLA - You Gotta Know, Hard Drive - Deep Inside, Snippets from the theme from EC (Electric Circus), Orbital - Belfast and Chime, Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea, Gypsymen - Hear the Music, Opus III - It's A Fine Day , Rozalla - Everybody's Free (To Feel Good) , Sunscreem - Love U More and Bizarre Inc - Playing with Knives.....

with my own tape-deck redits and samples blending the tracks together - (pretty rought sounding IMO) but other people thought it sounded cool........

taped the tape twice so I could play them at the same time and get the "phasing" effect from my cheap ass YORK double tape deck - which had the habit of playing the other deck faster that the other.....

such memories!!!

WIKKID WIKKID!!

P.S. Push the Feeling On - Nightcrawlers......that track will never grow old to me neither.....:)

- HOW I LOVE ME SEPTEMBER 1991- APRIL 1993......something clicked in my Brain too......'twas the beginning of my sexual evolution and what an awesome "movie soundtrack" that was!! ;)

OMG!!!!

How could I forget Children? I heard it on the radio way back in Grd. 6 (I was 11) and I didn't learn the name of the song until I was 17!!!

Since you mention "Children of the Sandstorm"... You could also check out the JS16 remix of Sandstorm which contains a sample from Children (or if it doesn't, it sure as hell sounds like it does).

It wasn't a song... EDM was chosen for me by watching tv casually one day... as I turned to Much Music expecting to see a popular music video... or those crazy vjs ranting about some crazy ... and all i got was EC... at first i was scared and just as i was about to turn the TV to a different channel, I saw a smoking hot chick nearly half naked... I lived in a small secluded rural village at the time where a chick was considered whorish if she threw one of the straps to her overalls off the side of her arm... but this chick on TV was in a tube top and miniskirt... I mean this was better than the day the victoria secret catalouge came in the mail. And i watched EC every week after that for a long time

Is this the song that goes

Hey there I hope everything's alright
I forgot to call you in the winter time
Like the waves crash coming right
I've got feelings pouring down against the ceiling
While you try to trace which side I'm on
When the wind blows between us
High above this empty feeling
I Don't Wanna Stop
I Don't Wanna Stop
When the waves crash beneath us
Down below this empty feeling
I Don't Wanna Stop
I Don't Wanna Stop

...or is it something else?
MarkT
^^^ I don't think so...both by ATB, but different tunes.

I Don't Wanna Stop (the lyrics you recited) is '03

Don't Stop is '99

http://www.discogs.com/artist/ATB

(best resource site ever for DJ info, AFAIK!)

Cosmic Fur
Yep, MarkT got it. That was great song. Sounded a bit too much like 9pm though.

And yes, I swear by Discogs. The only thing that will make me disagree with discogs is the actual DJ or producer calling me, telling me that discogs is wrong. (Although I have caught a few mistakes on their releases).
Orko
Ozaka Oz - Nightmare
1994

Off of Oakenfold's Fluoro double disc.

Absolutly steller song, and i cant believe how old it is!

Honerable mention goes to:

2Unlimited - Get Ready
Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin Beats
Ace of base - The Sign (yes not trance or house, but still dance)
