The Song that Got me Hooked!! (pg. 3)

Hmm. A couple things stick out in my head and all made their contributions towards 'hooking' me. There is no single 'hooker' that I can name.
I was a big fan of euro and dance in the early nineties. I still have various Much Music Dance Mix, Chris Sheppard/BKS, and some import compilation CDs kicking around. During this time, a friend at school turned me on to the likes of u-Ziq, Aphex Twin, and The Orb. What really hooked me to electronic music though was buying this CD in 1994:

A great CD for sure. To be honest, I had no idea what the music was about until after I got listening to it. I seem to recall buying it because it had a cool cover art. I listened to it a *lot*, playing games like the original Warcraft and generally geeking around. I'm listening to it again as I post this. ;)
The first track that will be forever etched in my memory was played at a rave in Guelph, the Hardfloor remix of Blue Monday. I think after I heard that, I realised I was on my way :) |

edm in general? listening to euro as a kid probably would be the first sign of it. :D then bad boy bill bangin the box..vol 3 i think was probs the first real edm ccd i ever bought. in 99ish. |
