This is very sad news...

I may have to come out of my cave to visit one last time... one last Friday perhaps...

I will definitely miss this club...

I remember a few SHINE events with Max Graham... Fleming blasting our socks off...

Garnier... where we all dressed in white as a tribute to Bal en Blanc...

I will be genuinely sad to see it go.

This is the first pic I have from my first party at System... with my bestest friend in the whole world... MAN! They can't do this, can they? Can we like... pass a hat around or something?

You can't see much of it, but that pic is DEFINITELY pre-renos...

Ah well... RIP System Soundbar... you've been good to us... and thank you to all the staff and owners who made it a place worth going to!

James.
DigiNut
Ghey.

But I saw it coming - the crowd there has been getting more mainstream every week.

Oh well. RIP System - you'll be missed. I'll definitely try to make it on NYE now.

i juss realized that System is the last bastion of the old skool era (save Guv which is in a class of its own) .. atleast as far as the downtown core clubs go ..

goodbye Industry..
goodbye Meow..
goodbye System.

this isn't just the end of a club .. but very well the end of an era in the scene in TO.

finito!

Tb.
Definetly will miss the place. I probably partied more at system than any other club, but as of late i felt that some of the changes they made alienated some of their patrons including myself. Havent really felt the need to attend any system event in the last 6-7 months. But regardless i will be there for sander, and most likely for NYE...lets try and bring back that good ol system vibe one more time :D !

I had a lot of crazy nights at System - I can still remember how excited I was to see Picotto in Dec 2000 (ya, he was still good then) - and reading this thread is bringing back memories of how great that night was and how many TAs were there (when I didn't even know any of you yet...) The Picotto party Review thread ended up being my first post on Tribe.

Best nights:

-Dec '00 - Picotto
-??? '01 - Groove.ca Party
-Sep '01 - Steve Lawler
-Apr '02 - John 00 Fleming
-Sep '03 - Max Graham
+TA Invasion(s)

...I was never a 'regular' there but I can't say I ever really had a bad night (pre renovation)... I liked the club alot the way it was before - its funny how a change like that can change perception so much (mine at least...).

Aside from that, this will be a loss to the scene and respect must be given to the ppl behind System whose steady EDM nights gave so many an alternative to the mainstream drivel of others for years.

Thanks for the good times.

I've had some fun nights there, but I was never a system regular. System hasn't been what it became known for in a long long time.

I won't miss it.

I could be wrong but wasn't it through Trance Addict and System where you got your first gig?

Like I said I could be wrong.

You're not wrong.

but it was also at system soundbar where I had a 2x4 fall on my face during renovations requiring a trip to emergency, multiple stitches and permanent scarring.

System is not a part of my life anymore. Why is it horrible that I won't miss it?

Sorry I guess I felt that you owed the place a little more respect but I will say that is my opinion and I know you won't agree with it. Maybe saying nothing at all would have been more up my alley, accidents happen.

How is saying my life will go on without system soundbar DISRESPECT?

I have never been anything more than appreciative to John and TOTA for what was an awesome night, but if you expect one gig to make up for a completely unnecessary and preventable incident, then you need to give your head a shake.

I guess you have a point, I was just surprised to see you type that you wouldn't miss it as I think most of us (elders) on here have had to have had some great times in that club. Sorry guess I'm just bumbed to see it go.

she defintiely has her point and i understand why shes sticking to it. also, i find that she is probably one of the few people on this board who doesnt filter anything. its brutal honesty and you cant knock her for that. we should all be like this instead of living in this care bear reality!

:haha:

in regards to system. as mentioned already, some of the best nights of my life. i will never forget them!
