Agreed. Although the care bear thing TA has going is a nice change from Tribe... however, there really should be a middle ground. Skipper fills that spot nicely. |

I just found out about this last night. :( Very sad news - System and BOA are my two favorite clubs in Toronto.
Fare thee well, System that hath converted this obesiance American to the glorious circle of the House Music. :sadgreen: I will treasureth in my heart of hearts the dirrrrty beats, the fine bass lines, and the exquisite choons of dance I've heard reverberating in your bellows.
I shall mourn in deepest black for you at NYE. And shake my tailfeather to send you off to that black abyss of the hiphop nation.
Kris, without her morning coffee |

Well said Kris! I'd love to see what you would write WITH your morning coffee :)
So see you in TO for NYE then? What say you Francis? |

:haha:
in regards to system. as mentioned already, some of the best nights of my life. i will never forget them! |
Thanks Richard.
I don't mean to disqualify anyone's feelings about the closing, but at the same time, I expect the same from others. I just don't feel the same way about system as everyone else does. Not all of my experiences there were positive.
Craig - those pics bring back memories! My first gig and someone walked up to me while I was changing records, grabbed my hand and put an E into it, and said "you better get used to people giving you free drugs." and walked away. hehe |

This is the only club where I've never waited in line or paid cover. EVER!
I first got introduced to System because my niece Suzy dated Huey, the head security there. I always got treated like gold. So did my friends! I remember this one night when Nick Warren was spinning, Huey parted the crowd spilling out on the street for me and my friends, and this guy leaned over and said "I'm from Germany," so I pretended he was one of my friends, bypassed the line, got in for free, and all night he kept coming up to me and saying "I'm having the night of my life" (he also told me he was a flight attendant and was in Toronto for one night and Nick Warren was his favourite DJ.) I got bitched out on tribe for that, too!
I did shoots there for BPM, too. I missed Huey tremendously after he'd passed away. I still get looked after by the door guys there (Quin is awesome!), and always enjoy a good hug from Orin.
This brings a close to some of my best party days, so I'll try to come out as many Fridays as I can. I'll never be able to pull mac moves at any other place, I'm sure!
I remember Seb Fontane on a Breathe Friday on my 26th birthday (July 7). Deep Dish. Mauro. Holey Moley, Mark Scaife Friday Nights. I was a regular for 2 years.
It's a sad day for Toronto clubbers. |

Can't believe this is happening... :( |
It's sets like these that brought friends together! Like me and Nat! Because of Mauro, we ended up doing a 4 day road trip and had a blast! Mauro in Washington, Montreal, and back home.
Sheeeeit!
Friday, July 7 - 1999 Seb Fontane. My 26th birthday. I'll never forget! (or maybe I was 27 and it was in 2000)
Ahhhhhhh! |
