I'm a real lazy ass, so I should be exercising more, but I don't.
Being fit (not buff or anything like that) makes you feel good in general. A healthy attitude does work wonders for your body.
I need a partner to motivate me. :p
My general guideline is to be able to do 30 push ups and 30 sit ups without any major exertion, run 5km in 25 mins and 7 chin ups. If you can do that, you're pretty fit. |

Im pretty fit. Not as much as I used to be though.
As for protein, fat , carbs....eating a balanced diet works best. You eat more calories then you burn, youll gain weight. You eat a little less and youll lose(obviously with regular exercise). Its pretty simple, yet so many people want insant results and think some magic pill or powder will do it for them. Sorry it doesnt work that way. Neither does starving yourself. (as Im sure most here know)
I used to eat healthier , but living on my own its harder. I try to and am alright at it, but Ive been to lazy to really get into a groove, so Ill get some fast food from time to time. Luckily for me I have a pretty natural athletic body :o  and a quick metabolism(which did slow down) so Im naturally a skinnier type.
I used to be able to shovel the food in (and I did). Being a competetive swimmer for 10+ years will do that to you. Working out everynight(sometimes mornings too) makes your body hungry. Then I got bored and quit. No injuries. I needed a break and took it at the stupidest time. Right before university.(There went my scholarship). Anyways, ive been back at it(not nearly as instense...hope to soon). So ive been upping my caloric intake a little to help but not a lot as I need to shave a bit of excess fat off.
I use to take some suplements , whether they did anything or not. Who knows.
I took Protein powder(do now too/ a decent whey isolate).
L-Glutamine(arguable if it does anything)
coenzyme q-10 (iirc to help combat those free radicals)
..another thing or 2 but I forget.
Ive played sports my whole life and the last few years have been a time to just relax for once in my life. Now im kinda ansy ;)
Far to many people are lazy in North America (and its scary to see todays kids). SO many are overweight. Get off your duff's and do something. park farther from the door to make yourself walk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator etc. Small things do help. |

I'm a freak when it comes to healthy eating and living in Greece is killing me right now. No matter what anyone says, Greek food is NOT healthy. Sure olive oil has positive effects on the body but when its coupled with feta cheese (hi in saturated fats), pork that has more fat then meat, and bread it is anything but.
But i survived living in Ft Wayne, Indiana (fattest city in the US) and i'm managing here as well. Plus i get about 3 hours of rigorous exercise a day (vball training) which helps keep the fat of the body :D |

Reading some of your posts, I guess I do take care of myself pretty well.
I exercise regularly and do yoga once a week.
I eat so much produce - my day starts off with a fruit and protein /greens+ smoothie - 1 small portion of each of 3 different kids of fruit, 1/2 cup organic yogurt, a splash of OJ and 1scoop of transform+ protein. I often have a salad with chicken for lunch or dinner leftovers. I snack on whole grains, yogurt and more fruit/veggies. I do meal planning for an entire week on a Sat/Sun and then go buy the groceries I need for the week - it helps to have something planned for dinner when I get home, otherwise I'll order or go out or eat KD.
In the new year I'm thinking of trying to aim for 80-90% vegetarian meals. I'm finding less and less that I need meat in my diet more than once or twice per week.
I've been watching my portions b/c I'm trying to drop about 10lbs.
I don't party as much as I used to and I try to sleep 7-8 hrs a night regularly, even on weekends.
My weakness is wine...I love it. |
