How well do you really take care of yourself?? (pg. 7)

I'm STARTING to take good care of myself AND eat healthy.
Been goin to the gym 3-4 times a week since the beginning of November. Been eating healthier since October and I must say, I feel FANTASTIC! I'm not as tired during the day...I sleep better at night...I feel better about myself..it's the greatest feeling ever. I've got a 'few' more pounds to go but I do plan to keep this up.
Like someone said earlier, I want to learn to do it NOW so that when I hit 30-35, I'll know what to do/eat to feel good. My whole family has health problems (of some sort, some not as serious as others) and I don't want to end up like that.
Cheers to taking care of yourself! :D |

| If you want to start exercising, find a partner to motivate and encourage you. Nothing like a little competition to mutually push each other a bit. IMO this is the best way. |

For anyone who needs a quick fix, get on that treadmill 30-45 min/day.
And remember, it's "burn more calories than what you consume that your body can't use." It's typically [saturated/trans fats that your body can't use, more than 1g/lb of body weight of protein consumed per day (unless you're a musclehead - not a juicebag, just dedicated to gains), and late carbs/wrong carbs at the wrong times] that your body won't use and will store as fat.
Additionally, don't think of how close you are to a perfect diet, think of how much progress you made from last week:
Did you eat everything the same, except no mayo on that daily sandwich?
Did you trade the soda for water?
Trade the white mocha for nonfat latte?
Grill your chicken instead of fry it?
Eat your carbs with lunch instead of dinner?
White rice with soy sauce instead of pasta/potato with cream sauce or butter?
One or more of those changes each week equates to immense progress. Couple that with some cardio and you're G2f-inG. |

I used to jog everyday during the summer. But now im to f-ing lazy.
Now my diet consists of lots of alcohol, "herbal supplements" & "special vitamins".. both of which you wont find at the local pharmacy.
I say start worrying about health after 30. For now, many of us are still young, & still have health bodies.. so abuse the outta them while you still can!!
But hey, thats my opinion & I could be wrong. But whatever.. im enjoying life & having fun.
Have a nice day. |

I wish I had the time to take care of myself more. I travel frequently and work heavily. I used to do Triathalons (swim bike run), I used to be very active and took very good care of myself. However after hitting the working world for a few years, getting involved in a career sucks all of my time up.
A change of lifestyle is definately needed.

I think I'm starting to sound like a broken record here:
Vitamin C is only useful as a preventative measure. Taking tons of vitamin C when you are already sick accomplishes absolutely nothing, other than perhaps giving you calcium deposits.
Please, for the love of God, use some common sense. There is a reason these things are called "supplements" and not "medicine". Don't stop your regular dosage if you get sick but don't increase it either! |
