I could never bring myself into caring about another's beliefs in whatever astral entity they deem plausible. Only when their beliefs infringe on my non-beliefs.
It doesn't mean I don't subliminally think it's stupid, but it works the other way too. A mutual consensus that we're all idiots in someone's eyes.

that's not it at all...
is it not stupid to blindly believe things without questioning them for yourself? what makes us human is our ability to reason and apply critical thinking, yet the largest institutions in the world ask us to give up that ability without justification.
i believe what i believe based on the knowledge that i've acquired through research and study. the majority of religious people believe what they believe because of tradition, without any sort of educating on the issue. who has a more justified reason for believing what they do?
we'd all love to be religious...i'd love for it to be true, i'm not just opposed to it because i'm being difficult. i think there are legitimate reasons to why mass religions should be questioned and what's arrogant is religious people ignoring critiques of their faith because they are either too ignorant to weigh options or too proud to except they could be wrong. |
