i believe what i believe based on the knowledge that i've acquired through research and study. the majority of religious people believe what they believe because of tradition, without any sort of educating on the issue. who has a more justified reason for believing what they do?
we'd all love to be religious...i'd love for it to be true, i'm not just opposed to it because i'm being difficult. i think there are legitimate reasons to why mass religions should be questioned and what's arrogant is religious people ignoring critiques of their faith because they are either too ignorant to weigh options or too proud to except they could be wrong. |

as a matter of fact, i do know a lot from talking to my friends from isreal. some of them are on active army duty, some of them live in jerusalem, and what they say is not pretty at all.
and yes, i think an israeli soldier knows more about the situation than you do. |

no, the dumbass is you. IRA a) declared inactivity like 4 months ago and b) hasn't blown anything up for YEARS!

One of my favorite West Wing episodes was when they made this comparison:
Type of Religion ---> Extreme of that religion
Islam ---> Neo-Fundamental Militant Islamic Extremists
Christianity ---> KKK
Every Islamic person would like to see everyone of the world believe in Islam. Every Christian person would like to see everyone of the world believe in Christianity. The people within their own religions dont agree on how this should be done. The extreme side to these religions wish to kill, harm, opress, and rule. The United States society was able to stop most of the actions of the KKK but the societies where militant Islamists live did not or can not stop them.
To say that all those people at the Haij are fanatics or extremists means to say that all members of all denominations of Christianity are actually the KKK.
That is the most disappointing thing about this thread, that most of you lump Islam and Christianity as this large conglomeration of people with equal beliefs when there are thousands of sects, denomations, and even individual beliefs. |

Israel is stolen land taken by the british when the ottoman empire callpased after world war I. Of course, It wasn't actually created until some time afterwards, even during WWII it was still called palestine.
In short, Israel can go itself for being a selfish and aggressive country. |
