I like it because it's so atmospheric.
It's a really weird concept in that it's such a simple and repetitive tune, yet it brings out a constant dream of energy and diversity at the same time. Incredibly haunting and atmospheric. |

| I bought the CD single back in 1998, and liked it for a short while before I got sick of it. Haven't listened to it in God knows how many years, and I don't intend to listen to it again anytime soon. IMO there are many, many better tracks (piano tracks in particular, take any of Big C's piano pieces) from the pre 98 era which never got 1% of the attention this got. |

Sorry, nothing against kent, i just think thats a hilarious thing to say.
But yeah i personally love the track. I guess i have an emotional connection with it, and i do think its absolutly amazing live when you're standing 10 feet away from the speakers.
I think also its just a classic. Its like how a classic movie from the 1940's could be remade. Better picture, better acting, plot might be redone slightly, everyone thing that was bad about the original was made 10X better, but it'd still be a tier movie than the original.
I also think its a great driving track. Driving alone somewhere for 3 hours, helps the time fly....also i was in a snow storm once, took me 2 hours to drive 20 min home...track helped out greatly.
I don't know if its the BEST track, but i think its definatly in the top 5 |

| it's good in what it is, it works for the simplicity & for mainstream and it gets paul the crowd cheers when he drops it, like ferry, armin or tiesto can with many old played out tunes, doesn't make them back, but they're not the be all & end all of the genres. |

Exactly, the point is these were influential tunes, even if they aren't the be all end all of trance. I don't think anyone can deny the impact they've had on people and the music, I don't think even people who hate this tune can deny it's impact, unless they are a newbie to the genre and have never heard of it.. |

The dark acidic trance made for the ''chosen few'' the ''true'' children of exctacy
vs the melodic, uplifting, ''angelic'' trance of the mainstream invaders.
Proper entertainment at it's finest ;)
It's like going for the safe bet & renting the movie you have seen before... |

PVD is one of my favorite DJs, but I have to agree with this statement. Paul has a signature sound, which was influenced by a few Trance classics that were anthems in Berlin and Frankfurt around 93:
LSG "Fragile" great track from Trance pioneer Oliver Lieb! If you listen to PVD's remix of Binary Finary 1998 you'll notice very heavy influences from LSG's "Fragile.
Marmion "Schoneberg (Remix)" The signature PVD sound is THIS VERY SONG
Cosmic Baby "Spacetrack" Gee, I wonder what PPK were listening to when they produced "Resurrection". Cosmic Baby of course worked with PVD in the early 90s under the guise Visions of Shiva. Niels Van Gogh's "Pulverturm", which came out around 98, also borrowes heavily from "Spacetrack".
BTW, there were definitely other well known piano-based Trance tracks prior to "Children". Around the same time as the original "For An Angel" you also had Zyon "No Fate", Virtual Symmetry "The V.S. (Original Mix)", even Energy 52 "Cafe Del Mar" (Kid Paul Remix) from 93 would be a good example.
As for "Children" the only version that really did that track justice is Tilt's Courtyard Mix.
PS I love Andain's "Beautiful Things" but different strokes for different folks. |
