Bach was considered the "Armin van Buuren" during the end of his life during which he focused on fugue and counterpoint writing. They called him bland and old fashioned [this is where any relation to Armin stops] where actually, he was at his best in terms of technical composition.
During the peak of the Romantic era, the "classical scene" were divided into two. We had the Brahms camp who championed traditional sounds and stayed loyal to the classical masters, and on the other side we had the nu-skool of Wagner - the forward thinking movement! :wtf: |

There's no real relation at all between trance and hip-hop, beyond the fact that both are electronic and in the same time signature. Hip-hop is quite obviously dominated by breakbeats, but the nature of how it's composed is very different. Most hip-hop is built quite like house: out of one loop. One loop to rule them all, and so on. Hip-hop producers don't talk about tracks, they talk about beats. Hip-hop tends to be built out of loops, with no real lead element beyond the MC and vocals. Put simply, in an instrumental form it doesn't have anything but a groove.
Trance is different. Trance moves. It has repetition- a beat, a bassline etc, but trance tends to go places. It doesn't start with everything and pretty much end with everything, like hip-hop. The first bar of a hip-hop track is often identical to the last bar, and the majority of the bars in between will be the same, with only glossing. Trance will have leads- pads, acid lines, big off melodies. They'll be introduced, then they'll leave. It will have breakdowns, builds, lulls and so forth. Hip-hop musically will play all of its cards at once, and just add to that. Trance's cards come and go.
Obviously this is not an always-applicable thing: I can name hip-hop tracks now that contradict me, and famous ones at that. But really, they're totally different. There's a reason why "journey" is such an abused word to trance fans, because it really is true. Trance is about being long and absorbing and melding lots of minimal elements together, and maybe some bigger ones. Hip-hop is all about creating one or two bars of goodness and getting your money's worth out of them.
Oh, and I'm not claiming that trance is anything like classical. In fact, my statement actually says the opposite: you're slightly less stupid in your association. I don't think trance is like classical, but it sure as hell isn't like hip-hop either. |

I love discussion forums, you always get a totally different perspective from so many and arguable opinions on any given topic. The fact is that know one is right but everyone has there individuality which comes out in there opinion by posting on the thread.

I think he is refering to the similarity in classical a trance music, beacuase of the emotional way it makes you feel.
and with that I agree, Classical and Trance music seems to be the most emotional. |

| Personally I'll take classical over trance anyday just because the old classic stuff is so genius that it blows me mind. This don't mean I don't love EDM but classical is just sooooooooo good. Anyway I find music is close to each other because so many elements are used |

OK. Thankyou for the explanation. I agree with everything you wrote ofcourse - I thought you meant that trance was closer to classical than hip-hop by calling me stupid. I guess my comment was pretty retarted, but I meant it rather loosely.;) |
