TRANCE vs CLASSICAL (pg. 4)
View this Thread in Original format

Wow, everyone on here is a drone i think, putting classical over trance. Trance is the best kind of music there is, period. Classical, though technically impressive, is really boring, and if you say it isn't then you're probably a pseudo-intellectual liar. As technology improves, music gets better, there's just more stuff you can do with it. Classical is genius in that it did everything it could with the instruments available, but was still limited by a lack of technology.

A drone? Lol your attitude is pretty much like a drone. Sure Classical isn't the more energetic music in the world, but at the time, it was very popular, first for mostly the aristocracy, and then the common folk in the late 18th and throughout the 19th Century (particularly with the romantic movement). Trance may be a great style of music to us, but I think having an appreciation for classical music is the key to really understanding many forms of western music. But also it revolves around studying other, non western forms of music, like African and Asian music. Cause that is what a lot of music, particularly in the 20th century combined, western forms like classical and romantic music, with the beats, rhythm, instrumentatation and form of non-western music. So really you have to keep an open mind and still be passionate for trance, but not think it's the best music out there. It's best to explore many genres, and you'll find many qualities found in trance are also in many other forms of music, including classical as well as much non-electronic music...

I mean I agree, trance is a great style of music with great potentional (doesn't live up to it all the time though), but I am also saying that you sound like a drone by just coming across like trance is the best music (as you said) and it can do no wrong. It's just best to keep an open mind..thats all, that will make you NOT sound like a drone either. No different then DJ worshippers out there who feel a DJ can do no wrong. Actually exploring classical and other forms will make you have an appreciation for trance music even more, because I feel that trance can be highly compositional like classical is, one of the most compositional forms out there. Trance producers just don't always focus on the true compositional aspects of it all the time. Many of the greatest trance tunes back in the day can be argued, in my opinion, to be "modern classical" in that they are highly compositional and have some similar forms like an "a,b,a" sonata type form, with often times the end being the most energetic as classical was...having a "climax", but this is true in a lot of music. More producers just need to focus on making quality, compositional productions like Chicane, BT, Solar Stone, Armin and even PvD did back in the day...

you're wrong again. I like classical, so, that would make me a liar, when I perfectly know I'm not? You're not very open minded are you?

And? Does that automatically make contemporary music superior to classical? I think not.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

You are clearly an idiot.

I'm not saying classical is bad, I just feel that music has evolved into something more since then. And i see the similarities between the two styles that you're talking about. And I'm extremely open to hearing new styles, exploring new music is amazing. I'm just saying my opinion that so far, trance, overall, has been the best style of music I've found.
I don't feel a dj can do no wrong, ex. Sasha's involver is at least twice as good as airdrawndagger imo, tiesto isos series (except for 4) is far beyond say, nyana. And tranceport seems to be better than all other oakenfold releases combined. I am irritated by people who won't acknowledge classical's weaknesses though, it does lack energy and everyone knows it, and it seems to me that everything classical does, trance could do better. Not saying that all of that has been done, but the trance style just seems deeper, with more potential.
I completely agree about a return to productions like chicane's older stuff, don't think i've heard much of PvD's older work.

No, in all probability, you like the idea of liking classical, there's a difference. And yes, you're probably a liar, saying you know you're not doesn't mean much.......coming from a liar.
No idea what i'm talking about huh? Actually, i do have an idea, i was talking about how trance is amazing and classical sucks ass.....are you even talking about anything besides me being wrong? Say WHY classical is better please. And yes, pretty much all contemporary music has potential to be better than any classical, technological developments have ensured that. Trance has done the most with the potential....isn't there some classical music forum for pseudo-intellectual s such as yourself? there's gotta be one, gotta be.

Actually I can virtually guarantee my IQ is higher than yours, and that i am smarter than you in just about any way that an IQ test doesn't cover. There is a chance that you're smarter, just not a very good one.

Ha. That's an intensely arrogant assumption considering you know nothing about me. Also, considering how effortlessly superior you are, you have crap grammar and talk some ridiculous e. If you're listening to classical music looking for energy, and if you think a repetitive, hypnotic form of electronic music can, or even aims to, do classical better than classical then you'd better hope you didn't give credit card details to whoever gave you an IQ score, because they pulled a fast one.

trancedanne
Classical such as mozart, Beethoven & Tchaikovsky is extremly boring & depressing listening too imo, feels so empty.. Modern Classical on the other hand or "filmmusic" in other words is so much better.
It works everytime, when im happy i turn on something from john Williams, sad - Hans Zimmer , angry - Matrix Stuff.
Trance versions of classical pieces is rarely good, DJ sakin & friends version of braveheart is a classic & Musikmans version of Day After Tomorrow is verry nice too but thats it..

I have "crap" grammar huh? Haha, wow, you do know that you should have used "crappy" in that sentence right? That's pretty ironic.
Oh, and the least you could do would be to check your own sentences before you express your doubt over my superior intelligence; what does "...do classical better than classical" mean?
I do know nothing about you really though, I'm just saying the odds are that I'm more intelligent. It was a pretty arrogant statement I made, but you did call me an idiot, and not only that but you said it was "clear" that I was an idiot. That was arrogant on your part; what kind of a reply did you expect?
