You were the guy who was claiming to be smarter than me: it stands to reason you should have better grammar. Which you don't- I don't care what you say, if you can't capitalise proper nouns then you don't have a leg to stand on.

Firstly because I've made my opinions clear on this subject before and secondly because nobody who put classical over trance presented their case nearly as poorly as you did.

Yshklir your arguments are full of ad homonym attacks. They also confuse opinion with fact, ie. "Trance is better than classical."
A person cannot have a certain IQ. A person can receive a certain score on an IQ test.
You are embarrasing me and the other Americans on this board.

Nah, you can have the last word on that stuff, it's cool. I do like trance best, but really, I don't care that much man. I was just posting to disagree with what everyone was saying on here. I was hoping to stir things up but it got pretty out of control, sorry about that. You are pretty young, as I suspected, but good job arguing. You weren't doing too well at first but I probed you to be more logical and you became more logical. I take back everything I called you during our argument. I can't really call you any of that stuff; I don't even know you. I'm not anything I seemed to be in our argument, but it's totally fine if you're pissed and really think I am all the things you called me. I understand. I'll stop provoking people; I thought it would be interesting and that I could find out more of why people believe what they believe, but it didn't turn out that way. Sorry for starting and continuing all of this. Interesting note: we have the same birthdate. I'm slightly older than you, but June 16.... nice. |

Are you confused? Why are you telling me all this, as though I don't like classical? I didn't even say I like trance . . . I just said, "funny definition of trance".
First of all, the man did give a comical definition: "trance is blah, blah, blah." It was a definition, and it was very funny to me.
I am not a trance fan. I actually post in the producers forum usually because I like listening to music of any creation. I am a doctor and classical guitarist with performances in my home state (and an old man) :) i love classical and would love to talk about it. This is why i found this thread interesting, as the title caught my attention. . .
I don't know much about trance, except enjoying many parties in miami and dc about 20 years ago when trance first lived. I don't know much about the new trance. Union Jack is the most recent thing I heard until weeks ago. I don't really respond to new trance, and the old trance seemed like a drug novelty only to me. So I am very unqualified to comment on trance, and I see no point to the argument.
Why would you assume so much about me from a small chuckle at a comedian's definition of trance? You then unload with the assumption that you need to educate me on classical music. For example, you write, "If you can't appreciate their music, i don't think you should even be talking about music because you obviously don't understand it." How would you decide I don't appreciate classical music because I laughed at a derision of trance? It would have been logical and appropriate to take me to task for obviously disrespecting trance music, but your reaction was bizarre and not environmentally related at all?! (Your profile says you are from costa rica, so maybe you simply don't speak english well.)
I even had the privilege to do a Segovia master class once in my little life, so i believe i'll cherish that memory and experience rather than your young opinions on the classical period. I do have to agree with the "troll" a little, in that you all seem ready to attack without provocation or basis. While he seems to demonstrate very little knowledge about classical music and probably is just stirring up , it is a potentially interesting topic that really should be more seriously discussed. why are there instead 2-3 pages of school-grade grammar, IQ and penis size comparisons?
The original poster has a great topic. Let's put it in better terms maybe: Does trance have sufficient depth to be serious art music (like that of the classical period), or is it fly-by-night pop fluff? i would like to hear what trance fans think without the slinging ad hominem attacks on both sides. Let's hear some opinions. |
