| To be more realistic, Aria is doomed. The scene is dying in montreal, anyone who denies that is in a little fantasy land. Stereo will manage. Aria will die off. All we really need is a place like Helsinki but in montreal. Montreal doesnt need a HUGE club to bring trance djs...i mean look montreal has a handfull of trance heads....neo hacker, jesteraver...thats all i can even think of. For techno we have kate and skipper, who we all know are the same person. Montreal just cant pack places for techno and trance nights when you have so few ppl who even care about that stuff. Stereo should start bringing more progish house djs like, digweed, sasha ect....but first they need to get rid of the dirty crew who keeps doing fake bookings. Thats something that wont help the scene. Its a very sad state when people are getting ready to go out for the night to see one of their fave djs and wondering if he's really going to show up. |

No i used that to show the how few ppl listen to that style music in proportion to those who dont. Thats assuming TA is somehow a realistic indicator of peoples tastes in the edm scene. Aria is awesome, had some of my best nights there....though it was packed. When you go their now you just feel like a loser. wooowoooo 30 ppl on the dance floor, big night! |

it was never packed on residents night
and its always packed when theres an international dj
maybe not digweed-packed but still |

I love how people who don't even live in the city, not to mention ARE NOT EVEN AN ACTIVE PART OF THE SCENE, thinks they know more about the Montreal scene then the people who live, work, and party here.
 Please. |

You're wrong to have assumed what people like or don't like in montreal, and assumptions are the mother of all ups. Your judgment was based on a handful of tranceaddicts, so its pretty much void for that they don't represent the greater chunk. The scene here is much bigger than you may reckon, local artist can stay happy here for that the market is one of the biggest in canada, thats why you see some artists around here that stay local forever :P
What you've just learnt is that clubs have their peaks and troughs, just like everything else in life.
Techno is still very much alive, but its just evolving slowest, so the hype isnt what it used to be. As for trance, anyone still listening to the genre will find out that its pretty much limited, if you don't realise this today then surely you will shortly, just listen to new trance releases they're all jokes.
St-Laurent has dozens of venues sexed up like helsinki. But they only function to get people drunk and laid. |

I find Montreal is right now in a valley and not a peak. Actually its slowly climbing back up.
I find its nicer this way when stuck in a valley, more time to rest. Then party 24/7 straight for months on end. |

no disrespect, but you have no idea what you're talking about... how old are you? were you following the scene 7-8 years ago so you can compare it to today and say its going down or up? |
