3 reasons to attend PVD @ Central Park
View this Thread in Original format
xover
New to TA forums: what a great site.....fairly new to trance and certainly have next to nothing knowledge of the scene, as compared to all of you. Quick question for those with time. Please provide three reasons why a TA should attend PVD in August and three reasons why he should not? TIA, xover

Just curious why people would want to go and why not.
Groundhog Boy
Reasons to go
1. Most people from here will be there
2. Outdoor events are a rarity in NYC
3. Paul can still play enjoyable sets

Reasons not to go
1. Made Events does a ty job of organizing their outdoor events (i.e. not enough bathrooms, etc.)
2. Paul's set from last year was the worst one I've heard from him in the at least 8 times I've seen him.
3. It's during the day and ends at 10, so lighting is basically non-existant for 3/4 of the set.
euphoria
Reasons to go:

1. Meet new people from TrancEaddict
2. The new people you meet with educate you further on trance and other genres of EDM.
3. Hear PVD spin some great tracks while enjoying a nice day outdoors in central park/or if it rains get cooled off by the water in the sky while witnessing a wet t shirt contest surrounding you.

Not to go:

1. PVD is hit or miss with me lately.
2. Its somewhat expensive if you dont get tickets early
3. It will be very crowded and the lines for drink and bathroom will be long.

i cant even *THINK* of 3 good reasons TO go...and i *was* a diehard PVD fan (oh man im prolly going to get FLAMED for this by some friends :nervous: )

The opportunity to meet up the NYTAs (and out-of-state TAs) is the BEST possible reason to go to SUMMERSTAGE...meet some of the MOST REAL and UNPRETENTIOUS people in NYC who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to edm. Paul Van Dyk himself is really *secondary* at this point. Unless he throws down a "PVD Classics Night"-- but you know that'll probably NOT happen...

reasons not to go: all listed and I agree with them 100%

well IMO Summerstage won't do it for me after seeing Armin at Tobacco Warehouse

its a great event to attend. also groundhog boy hit it on the head. you should jump on opportunities for outdoor events, they dont come around often

cant wait for summer stage!

1. Cynical former PVD fans aside (and I can agree that some of his recent sets haven't been my favorites), really really fun music and everyone's having a ball.
2. Relatively small venue, you can stay in the back or be right up front
3. The most fun laser show - watch the lights hitting the trees, yummmmmmmm.

Just go. You'll like it.

If its ure first time, go. If its ure 4th time straight liek me, go cause u feel guilty when u dont go. LOL. His set prob will suck, but its like Thanksgiving dinner. Every year, whether u like Turkey a lot of not, u gotta have some on that specific day. LOL. Best way to put it, just go. :D

Here's the #1 reason to go. As a new TA you will meet a great deal of TA's, many of which you will form a bond with and begin to party with most of the times you go out.

That in itself will be more than worth going out to this for.

Contrary to what former PVD fans are saying, and i won't mention names,ALYSSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PVD throws down, for the most part, extremely enjoyable sets(especially in NYC).
Yes he has been inconsistent and even sub-par at times, but name me a dj that hasn't?

Armin's set at the Tobacco Warehouse(saturday night) wound up being just short of amazing. He started of slowly and built up the set nicely and for the last 3 hours completely blew peoples minds.

What AVB did in the last 3 hours PVD has done time and time again for an entire set and hopefully that PVD will show up.

And for all you former PVD fans who are saying that you don't like what he is playing now, have you listened to his T-Mobile set in Prague from the end of May or his Essential Mix from Coloursfest in June? Both of those sets are Amazing.

Bottom line, just go. The reasons you should will by far surpass the reasons you should not.

And I do agree that his SS set from last year was sub-par and a letdown. The worst SS set yet.

yeh main reason im going this year is networking.

joeyyyy *pout* -- i *did* PM the new TA earlier today to persuade him/her to come out to meet all of us. for the sake of friendship..that *should* count for something, luv. <3

and yes, PVD does have his good moments, just not so consistently...
