That sort of thing happens often. When I first started getting into trance I remember going to see Sasha and being disapointed and thinking he spun a bad set because I had been listening to an essential mix that he did(Sasha @St. Ives)that is trancier than Sasha has ever been, and it wasn't even close to the more progressive style he was playing when i saw him.
Doesn't mean it was bad though. Just not what I was looking for that night.

Which is why I think that when giving reviews of events that people shouldn't be so harsh. It is just someone's opinion of the night and not everyone is going to agree so why not just agree to disagree instead of causing a huge problem with it. We obviously don't all like the same kind of music on a board.. man could you imagine how boring this board would be if we all agreed and loved everything the same

Not liking Sasha.. pfft, I can't imagine such a thing Josh ;)
lol.. although I can remember when I first started listening to him his style just wasn't what I was into at that time so the first couple of times I saw him in TO I was less than impressed cuz all I knew was trance... now it is much different when I see him play. I bow to him now :p

Which is absolutely stupidity because thats the GENRE he plays. He may of played the best technically hard style set but you still would of hated it any other way.

Thats like saying i hate madonna and her music but i am going to go see her play anyways.. and yeah she was the worst act i ever saw even if she blowed everyone else away and did perform really well.

That doesnt make sense

exactly, everyone who liked the genre said that set was unbelievable, im not into that music either but i was still extremely impressed with his style and technique. You cannot say his set sucked just because you dont like the genre.

So maybe this is more like, "the set you disliked the most."

If you think about it, there are basically four traits of a DJs set. mixing, tech skills (pitch adjustment and other cool stuff), track selection, and programming (the order in which the tracks are played).

Sure, you might judge the whole set/night based on all of those if you're a real stickler, but do we really care about much else than the tracklist? And if that's what we didn't like, then you probably didn't research the DJ's last three months of performance very well.

For instance, I wouldn't go see Lee Burridge, and I'd be fairly apprehensive about Steve Lawler, DJ Vibe, and Clive Henry, since they've all shown minmal tendencies as of late, but I still would go see them with that in mind.

Looking back, this applies to Eric Prydz Sep05 Kiss100 set that I mentioned on page 2. I hated it, but someone people wenty b-a-n-a-n-a-s over it.

Timo Maas back in April...

Without a doubt Armin was a complete joke at DIII. If you were actually there from the start of his set you would have heard all of the trainwrecking that was going on. He HAD to of been intoxicated beyond belief. I even remember when an entire track ran out or he hit the cue button... it was bad and almost completely ruined my clubbing experience. Oakey definately made my night though.

Im one of the biggest Armin fans out there :) ... and i will agree that he was way toooo intoxicated that night @ D3 to spin anything ... he played ALOT of good tunes ...and alot of the set was good .. but some of that trainwrecking and other was really really bad for such a superstar DJ to do .. shameeeeee lol

other then that .. Picatto was not a fav for me ...Dekay cd skippin was rough but he had a decent set ...

GreyArea ... not a big fan of the Live PA anymore ....

Blank and Jones ... their US9 set was really progressivy .. with some good classics .. but from what i was hoping to hear to what i heard was not good ..

Junkie XL ... i wasnt a fan of his set at all ... something about a guy standing in front a computer lighting a smoke while in the middle of a mix that he has no headphones and isnt really doing the mixing ... doesnt impress me .. if i wanted to hear that i would listen to mp3s on my computer ... shame ! .. not happy about hearing that he is on the bill for Labour of Love this year

Thats all for me :)

I was waiting for your reply because I know how big of a fan you are.

I didn't notice that Armin was ed, i guess i was too messed to realise it. lol. Its like asking another drunk if you are sober enough to drive or not.

Also, Junkie XL's set from Ultra 9, I thought was terrible.

Generally, i let peoples opinions just roll off, but JXL was the set of US 9, hands down.

Yeah man, I love Deep Dish, but when they get really crazy techy, or when David Morales gets really circuity, or Roger Sanchez gets really discoey, I'm out like Buster Douglas.

lol, these are all the things I adore! hahah awesome
