I'd like to disagree on the fact that the teams are not crap - but beating the better teams they showed they're better. I like the Tigers, a vibrant, successful team with amazing pitching that I saw all year long that dominated the Yankees batters. The team has chemistry. They had too many losing seasons, and they deserve to be part of the big show now.
I'm tired of seeing the same teams in playoffs every year, its good for a change to see new teams like Tigers.
No wonder why baseball has dropped so much in popularity ... small market teams like Brewers, Devil Rays, Jays, Royals, Pirates, Marlins etc. dont stand a chance. I wish there was a salary cap, to make it more interesting like in NHL, for example or NFL. |

he's toast.... I blame Torre.... umm... a 10 year old could sit on the bench as skip... and win with that team....

magnet. dont you think its amazing how the Marlins did this year for an extremely small market team,(btw I dont care for Girardi, he made alot of questionable desicions this year) and our team that won the world series in 2003 too as well ,goes to show that all this about buying the best players for one team like the yankees do sucks cause underdog teams have shown that they play with more emotion and heart like for example the Tigers, How can anyone not love this team? Even the whole Leyland kissing crap was cool lol.
Baseball needs the Tigers, not the Yankees, The Oakland A's in the 70s never had the biggest stars (at the time anyways they werent big)but they were cool to watch as a whole.The only cool thing about watching the Yankees was to see how bad AROD would do, all these so called superstars played like and no emotion.Zumaya goin out there and burning all these superstars has made him a new star himself.

I'm a Cardinals fan so go Cardinals obviously but I really hope the Tigers make it to the WS as well. |

well if you say that anyone can manage a team (which i totally agree with, anyone who thinks Girardi was awesome this year is wrong) then why do u blame Torre....? Players can motivate themselves, blame should go to the front office, putting together a team like this which had its moments but like i said above, just a team with big names.

That's baseball, Detroit was a better team, it doesn't matter what the hell you do in the regular season, it only counts in the fall. I'm still a yankees fan and always will be ************ if they are losing. So much so that I'm still buying yankee jerseys because now that they are out, they are cheaper!

Now that Cardinals have eliminated the Padres, we can make some predictions, but first here are the standings after Division Series:
KYD NICE receives a bonus point for picking Cards in 4. (Participants received an additional point for every team picked to win a match-up that managed to advance).
1. King Ecnal - 23 pts, 10-4 record
2. Partyhopper - 18 pts , 8-6 record
3. KYD NICE - 17 pts , 7-7 record
4. Magnetonium - 16 pts , 7-7 record
5. Verndogs - 11 pts , 5-9 record
6. Dj Smitty20 - 4 pts , 2-12 record
Smitty will not be able to receive any more points. Unfortunately for him, all his teams bailed out on him in the first round. OUCH!
Futures and predictions FTW (a race between King Ecnal and Partyhopper):
King Ecnal - has a good shot at winning the pool if receives a lot of points from NLCS WITHOUT the Mets advancing to the WS. If Mets advance, the chances are Partyhopper will win ;-)
Partyhopper - currently the favourite to win the pool even though in second place. If Athletics and Mets go far, and even if one of them makes the WS, this guy will steal this year's pool.
KYD NICE - Even if Mets end up winning as he picked it, he will end up second or so because of point difference from the Division Series round. Tough luck ;-) Yankees screwed you over!
Magnetonium / Verndogs / DJ Smitty20 - we are already done, sorry to spoil the surprise ;-) We are trailing, and the teams we picked to win are long gone. If Partyhopper wouldn't have picked Mets to win it all, me and Verndogs would have had a chance ;-)
