I'm still a yankees fan and always will be ************ if they are losing. So much so that I'm still buying yankee jerseys because now that they are out, they are cheaper!

you can say the same thing about the yankees too - and I still stand by my cards after all that was said in the NYTA MLB thread

Of course i'll always be a yankee fan. I pay 30 dollars a month to watch all their games on TV (and i'm a starving student...well not really but you know what i mean). Except for Jeter, Posada and Abreu, they all tanked it this October and there's no excuse for it. Especially that last game...takign whacks at first pitch swings (Sheff) or letting two perfect pitches go by before swinging at garbage (Arod!). It's almost like they didn't care.

Joe did help mastermind those 4 great titles but maybe he's not getting through to them anymore? Sometimes I question his bullpen decisions but I'd like to see him stay.

Arod on the other hand....if there's a good deal out there, dish him. and go after Zito FA.;)

but enough whining...A's and Tigers deserve to be where they are and i think it will be a good series.

It's always the easiest for the manager to make the skipper the fall guy - it's cheaper, easier and you don't have to move any players and it makes you look like you're doing some good work :toothless

He can get matchup crazy with the bullpen. For instance taking Wang out with 93 pitches to put in Myers who prompty gave up a homerun in game 1 is a good example.

Then again, he has a ty bullpen to work with. (Proctor, Myers, Farnsworth? Hey, at least Tanyon Sturtze wasn't available! :clown: ) He also never had the luxury of a healthy Dotel to use.

when I was typing my previous message, i was thinking EXACTLY the same situation where Torre bungled the bullpen call with Myers for Wang last week. My dad and I were just like.....um JOe what are you doing? I love Torre (he's a really nice guy when you talk to him personally as I did last year), he's a great manager but he does tend to play favourites and relies too heavily sometimes on matchups the same pitchers day in, day out. Oh, Torre isn't getting fired by the way. www.tsn.ca

Offense is fine in my opinion (get rid of SHeffield please). Bullpen needs works, starting pitching needs a major overhaul. Bring back Mussina and Johnson, dish Wright and Lidle, make a free for all for Barry Zito and with Wang and hopefully a healthy Pavano, Yankees still have a good starting rotation.

But you know, Mo isn't getting any younger is he?

Anyway, I can't decide who I'm cheering for tonight. Probably the Tigers since they're really close to me and have sucked total ass for so long.
