Consider this:
The majority of z103.5's audience have never heard of Sander, nor his exploits. To be blunt: they are not familiar with him.
Why is the fact that z103.5 announced "Sander Kleinenberg is THE new up and coming DJ" such an unreasonable thing???
For someone in the scene and in the know the proclamation may seem absurd - but for z103.5's audience (for whom they target their programming) the statement is absolutely acceptable.
Based on z103.5's audience - the programming, the statements and the info-bites make PERFECT sense. They are educating the majority of the people who listen to the station.
The above reason is why all of these "OMG! z103.5 ..." threads have an absurd fog of arrogance and very little merit (the side discussions that result sometimes do however).
Mocking a media outlet for it's audience and education of said audience is the same thing as watching Sesame Street and then mocking it (and it's audience) because it's teaching children how to count to 10 (or the A, B, C's, etc).
Disclaimer: this not meant to bash anybody who posts in these threads, creates them, etc - it's just trying to give a different perspective to what z103.5 is trying to accomplish and maybe how we as mature citizens should be a little more understanding and flexible when relating to the non-scene world. |

I think that's the point tho, we're making fun of how clueless the audience actually is. And regardless, information isn't factually accurate based on who the reader is. (or audience is in this case)
Saying he's an "up and coming" DJ is ludicrous... |

sooo true. If there's any club in TO that is somewhat close to what Sysyem used to be... that is FootWork! |

agreed...there's often an air of pretention around such threads (I'm guilty of it myself on occassion)
though, in fairness, the station could at least point out that he's been around for a while rather than imply to the audience that he's "new". The guy is in his mid-30's and has been a DJ for ~10 years, after all :) |

| Not every venue can suit evryone's taste, and for what TiL is aiming for, it does perfectly in my opinion. A more mature crowd that wants to listen to all of the top DJ's, but doesn't want to deal with the riff raff or sketchtards that normally frequent other venues. Who ever said they were out to mimic System anyway? Every venue has it's own vibe and memories, Sonic will never replace Boa and TiL will never replace System, people need to stop living in the past and enjoy the fact that there is in fact a club for almost everyones taste. |
