Dude, thats why I long gave up on Trance. (and I use to be a serious trance-o-halic.) I only go to trance shows because I am with my gang of friends going to it these days. I rather stick to house friendly music gender because it has the rhythems trance lacks today.

I love the trance sets from like Tiesto dated 2002 and older.

DJ Gonzo use to put on some nice trance sets that I use to love every week @ Disco2000.

PS. Take local like 'DJ Plesurehead' for example and his CD he recorded in one take. :disbelief

All the people who are my age feel like it's died in the last 2-3 years (since they turned 22) and you feel like it died when you were in your early 20s, too.

Well, lets be honest here on this one.

The GOLDEN YEARS of clubbing to EDM in NYC were in fact the early to late 1990s...that is a fact. House was at its finest, DnB was kicking, Trance was a new sound - the music was fresher then. The best clubs were open (Twilo, Limelight, Tunnel, Paladium, Shelter, Life etc etc) the scene was FRESH and it was a close knit community. There was no internet or mass marketing to bring the drones from Hicksville...it was all word of mouth and flyers - PERIOD!

I feel the scene died in and about summer of 1999 when Rudy started to crack down and Gaetien really started to up his empire.

There is no comparison from today to then...none what so ever. There was no booth crushing DJ whores like there is today....people went to bug out to the music, with friends and get a little smacked up...i can not tell you one time any of us HAD to get all dressed up to hit a club just to get it...never happened, not once.

The is dead the same way NYC graffitti is dead...yes they techincally both exist....but not like they used to and i do not think anyone can say otherwise unless they can actually compare yesterday with today.

Anyway, every nYc EDM Club has a life span of 5+ years. Crobar is reaching that age little by little. It all starts with signs like the 4am closing for example. In like two months NYPD will lay off Crobar and it will resume it regular activity until NYPD will notice them yet again. Then it will be something to do with drugs and the club will come to an end.

... but as usual some new club will open up and take the load of bringing superstar DJs Crobar is bringing to NYC and everything will be business as usual. :thepirate

People love to cry about how cool it was back in the day compared to now. Reminds me of "Parties were so crazy back in freshman year but by senior year its just not the same!"

Dress up? I were jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt everytime I go out to a NYC club unless its cold. What clubs do you go to that ask for anything more? Are you referring to lounges?

I always believed that parties are what people make of it...guess thats why ive been gettin into parties ar smaller venues like sulli, cielo, etc.

Trance is doing just fine right now. I like it. :)

all of the above posts are good reason to go see Sean Tyas at Crash Mansion October 21.

I have gone to the Made events PVD summerstage every year since they started. They get worse and worse every year. This year absolutely sucked! the weekend was saved by Victor Dinaire and Ryan Tyas in a small venue (Element), they played a sick set. If you think Made Events are commercial wait till they combine their efforts with the king of cheese, ATB, later this month.

The underground scene is about to be reborn though, MASSIVE NYC is bringing back the Twilo days, just be on the look out!!!
