How long was this album in the making from conception to release? Someone give me a figure?

It is easily the biggest lot of e I've ever heard. James holden has totally lost the plot on this one I'm afraid, it has no redeeming quailities whatsoever.

You missed the last post on page 1, didn't you?

i'm aware this is not his full length artist album, however what difference does that make to the fact this is .

Except for "10101" and "intentionally left blank" which are pretty decent tunes (!), the rest of the album is pure utter trash!!!What was he thinking? This "microhouse" think was done for ages by Akufen and Matthew Dear, only much better (ofcourse "microhouse" always had an inherent limit in the "goodness" and "quality" levels) . I really can't withstand anything in this album, especially this atari techno crap. I would never waste any money on such garbage. There is to good music around ,be it EDM and non-EDM, to waste money in such terrible garbage. I wander why Holden released an album (?) like that out. Was it something like "ok, i have messed with Jeskola Buzz and saved the output of my mess in my hard-drive. What am i gonna do with it?Let's release it like an album to get some money". If he was thinking something like that then i don't know, he is completely ed-up...

To many hedonistic drugs man...

The sounds worse than noise would be best to describe the whole album. Amen.

Just bought it and listened to it :nervous:

What a load of . I'm very open minded on music but some of this is just noise, and not even good noise. '10101' is ok and has flashes of old Holden around the 3:20 mark. 'Intentionally left blank' isn't even funny and is a complete waste of CD space. 'Idiot' has some good sounds in but the off time quantizing on some of the riffs does my head in. 'Corduroy' is one of the worst things I've ever heard.
The other tracks had so little effect on me I have no desire to listen to them again.

The minimal, glitchy sound is fine if it has a good rhythm, decent sounds and atmosphere with it - Trentemollers work manages this well. 'The idiots are winning' has no emotion, melody or decent basslines and has questionable rhythm structures.

Very dissapointed. Bring back the days of 'Nothing' 'I have put out the light' his remix of 'Janiero' and 'Horizons'.

I can't help but think that Holden is taking the piss releasing songs of silence, pure un-inspring noise and badly timed bleeps.

He is. I think he once said as much in an interview a while ago. He said something like he wanted to see how much he could get away with before people would say, "actually, this is ". I think he has found out.

If he really did say that, what a .

what a pretensious git. intentionally left blank. cant get more arrogant

If he is looking for the border of acceptation in his music, I don't believe he would do that on his own label....Because if everybody thinks its , they wouldn't get enough money out of it to release a next BC, BC13........ Or is it just me thinking this way........

I like lump, 10101, corduroy and idiot. Only idiot is way to slow on this pack. 10101 is beautiful, lump is just crazy, especially when your in a club or something. Intentionally left blank is, as someone already said i think, a waste of time on the cd. Some of the other tunes are not even tunes....

So there is no track #8?

The few noteworthy tracks to me are:

3. 10101
6. Idiot
10. Quiet Drumming

This isn't his best work. I think it would have been better if this was released as a 3-4 track 12" EP and digital download with the aforementioned tracks. He's at a stage where he's experimenting with his sound and I don't think he's really quite mastered it like he did progressive house/trance. I wouldn't condemn him just yet, and see what he has in store for the future. He's created one of the most forward-thinking electronic labels, he's proved himself to us many times in the past, and he's definitely a pioneer of his own sound. But he's going in his own direction right now and he likes it.

People still buy stuff before they've even heard it?

Those times are gone. Time to move on, or (as I like to do myself) start digging in the past for undiscovered gems.
