I have seen them a few times lately (together and apart) and I just can't get into their sound, it's too electro-ish, weird vocally stuff, no groove building like how it used to. It's like they are trying to do something new to stay current, but it just doesn't resonate with me the way that their old sets used to.

Like I said, you can't live in the past, you have to move on.

very well said, my sentiments exactly. their old livesets were so damn good. nowadays they just put me to sleep.

coolest dj name in the world? ah ok you're being sarcastic.

anyway, his placement this year is hands down the biggest shock and has raised the most eyebrows.

in the past year you rarely read anything about him on the internet, magazines, or hear people talking about him. you would be hard pressed to find a dj dan liveset to download, just as its always been. being shocked about his placement this year or not knowing dj dan DOES NOT MAKE YOU A NOOB.

he was the dj everyone in the san fran area raved about back in 1997 when i first really started getting into EDM. the 2 cokehead snob little bitch roomates i had at the time would get so excited when a new cd by him came out and would mention it in every phone conversation. i thought he was ehhh ok back then and i still do. i never liked the funky san fran area sound. it all sounds like disco. dj dan sounds like spastic disco.

what really disturbs me though, is that a guy who spends half his time as a real estate agent ranks higher than those that work around the clock 7 days a week with production work and touring. dj'ing or making music is not even dj dan's main occupation in life.

So anything new worthwhile listening by/to him?

Or was he just their for 15 mins of fame?
Durrrtysouth
He was too busy voting on computor to make any new tunes. Give him some time, his fingers are still tired from all the typing he did in Sept-Oct.

Funk the System, In Stereo

My 2 favorite Dan albums.

LOL @ 15 minutes of fame. I see the MD is divided into two groups: ultra eliteists, and n00b retards, lol.

Neither. Which is probably why I don't usually post here.

God damn you're ing dense! Dan's a cool guy, I've had the opportunity to hang out with him on several occasions. Just because some people in the UK and Europe haven't heard of him doesn't mean he took short cuts or that he's unknown. I guarantee there's plenty of DJs that are big where you're from that none of us here have heard of. Although, you probably stick to what you think is "safe" dance music. n00b.

But good branding and marketing by his PR people.

What. The. ?

I like dj dans remix of depeche mode - precious. probably the best mix of it out there.

carry on

Im not going to comment on how absurd it his that DJ Dan was in the #5 spot and whine like other ppl

All i know is this:

When DJ Dan was at Aria (A club that brought many household EDM names)

in Montreal (One of the biggest EDM scenes in North America, perdominatlty in House genere)

the place was not even half full, almost empty

I never heard a set by him or any productions, so im not going to hate on the guy, but i cant help but asking if this guy is soo good like people claim that he is why is he

a) a real-estate agent
b) not popular in Canada & the rest of the world?
