It seems to me that there is a lot of speculation going on here and at the end of the day, NOBODY really knows how popular any one DJ is, how many fans they have on their mailing lists, how much PR they did, or even pretend to know how the average clubber will vote.
We can only form opinions based on our own music preferences, biases and who is popular in our local markets.
But ultimately, that's all they are: opinions.
There is also the issue of what merit we give other polls (ie. this person could not be #10 in this poll, because they are #40 in that poll), which is problematic in itself because now you are attributing one poll with more credibility than another, when in fact they could both be accurate reflections of the people who voted in them.
It's natural for people to feel upset when the DJs they support don't do as well as expected, or others whom they don't support do better than expected. It's human nature when you are passionate about something.
I just hope it doesn't start getting nasty here and people (perhaps even other DJs who are disappointed in their own results) start making mean spirited accusations. |

A popular regional DJ or resident DJ does not make one popular across the globe. Dan is not even the most popular Dj at his own agency either? WTF!!

| no, not at all. I think it is bull to see Carl Cox fall out of the top 10, when he clearly is better and more popular. Also Zabs and Erik Morillo have more of a fan base than DJ Dan and CL. |

Christopher Lawrence has a HUGE fanbase. Way bigger then some of you realize. He plays everywhere from the States to the top clubs in the UK and Ireland to places like China. Have you guys seen his schedule over the past year? It rivals that of of the likes of Sasha or Armin.
Carl Cox is an amazing DJ, but he's already been in the Top 10 since the very first Top 100 poll (he was ranked number one back then). So it's actually a bit surprising (in a pleasant way) that he's still ranked so high after all these years.
As for the whole Ameri-centric "it's the yanks fault" crap, STOP! If you think back a few years ago back to when DJ Tiesto moved up from number 27 to number 6, a lot of people in America (especially the old schoolers) were scratching their heads and wondering who this DJ is, and why he's suddently ranked so high. They couldn't believe he was Top 10 while legendary American Trance DJ Kimball Collins wasnt on the list. They figured it was a poll conducted by a British magazine, and that he must be really popular with the Brits. I believe it was the year John Digweed was at the top of the list, while Oakenfold was still voted number on BPM's poll.
Morillo is highly popular in Ibiza, NYC, and Miami, Italy, Paris, but there's also a lot of places he doesn't play. How often does he get booked to play in American cities like Tampa or Cincinatti? He is after all an American DJ. Well guess what - guys like DJ Dan and Christopher Lawrence do get booked in cities like Kansas City, Salt Lake City, and so on. There's more to the States then just NYC and Miami, and there's more to the world than just Ibiza, London, and Amsterdam.
There are several American House DJs that do very well in America's major cites as well as the medium sized ones - Bad Boy Bill (who in the past was voted as America's Favorite DJ in BPM Magazine), Richard Vission, and DJ Dan. Both Bad Boy Bill and Dan also spin in places outside the US.
Having said all that, I too can't understand how DJ Amadeus, who only plays at clubs in NYC, has debuted so high. |

Yups Sasha is most over-rated DJs of all time in both polls, he belongs next to Oakie and others.. guys who were good in past but are dead now.. total garbage.
But good branding and marketing by his PR people. |
