Saw Dan in Boston a few weeks ago. He was good, definitely a very technically skilled dj. While he does have a good draw I never got the sense that people outside the US really knew about him. Oh, and JOOF pulled far more people.
I used to be very lukewarm on CL, but he's definitely one of my favorites now. Besides JOOF, I can't think of anyone else making the rounds at Spundae, Avalon, and such who rarely pollutes his sets with cheese.
Now the fact that John '00 Fleming is ranked any lower than 10 is absolutely ridiculous. :whip: |

I wonder why DJ DAN can beat the legendary Sasha & Ferry Corsten in the DJ MAG Ranks. |
In the minds of the average clubber, he beat:
Corsten with 80% less extended breakdowns.
Sasha with 70% more disco funk.
The average clubber appreciates these attributes quite a bit.
And DJ Dan has consistantly ranked quite highly in BPM's -an American EDM magazine- Top DJ poll. Probably not so much on TheDJList.com, for the simple fact the house scene isn't as big on the 'net as the trance scene. |

| I really don't buy the whole "All the yanks voted for 'em!" I sure as hell didn't. I know all of my friends didn't even have him in their top 10....hell I don't even think any of my friends listen to him. He's a has been. He might rock a crowd...who cares...he might bring a crowd...who cares...Oakey brings a crowd...and don't even get me started on oakey....thats off topic and i'd get too angry...thank god he went down again this year....:D one of my personal bright spots on the list.... |

Skill is OBVIOUSLY not important when it comes to these lists
There are lots of Djs who get more gigs at bigger events then lawrence and dan and geniunely have more fans
Just lots of people dont give a flying about voting, such as myself
So what you usually get is groupies and label mongers trying to sell their product
And its not some wild accusation, ask around you will be suprised |

This years list is the worst Ive ever seen it imo, with a record amount of obvious cheaters.
Its like the people who get all their friends to vote for them on thedjlist to make themselves look like djs
the fact that some local dj is ranked that high should raise a couple of eyebrows
the guy doesnt even have fans, i doubt many people know who he is.
To me, thats a joke
I think djmag should take a hard look at how their system works |
