text and subtext has a lot more power than you think. |

Doesn't look like it's working in the COR then. |

your perception of the social mechanics on this forum at large are oversimplified, overgeneralized, and don't even scratch the surface. |

oh? just for a very recent example - where's the flood of the cat pics meme then?
even more recent - what happened to the shortlived 'FAO...' meme, if you can even call it that?
there was no mod intervention in either case afaik, and yet they both died out after a short textual backlash. |

No ? Did you know how many more were created (and deleted) before they eventually died down? |

Yeah, but they just want attention for creating them. So whether you join in and copy or create threads calling them stupid, they've got what they want. It's best to just ignore them -- they die down more quickly that way. |

i saw about 15 in total i think. and even if that's true that it was eradicated by mod intervention, it still doesnt discount what i said about the cat pics meme. |

Oh , I'm again getting into an argument with Psy-T :p.
But, the sum total of has not reduced in COR. People have dumped one for the other. Collectively ofcourse, if everybody (or majority) lose interest in an idea, then it dies down. So will all this in COR die down ? Maybe it will, but not if only 5 people whine about it, and only if these 5 people include a couple of mods and swampah! |

so you do realize that text and subtext has at least 'some' power over others, even in the cor? good, that's what i was arguing. |

Ofcourse :) Who can underestimate the power of words !!!! To be more specific, I was only referring to the power of a few (non modding) members in this thread who are trying to bring about a change in teh COR by their critical words. |
