Not too many Sander reviews/pics/videos? He ripped it up. I was there most of the night. Was it just me or were there video screens on the CEILING of his tent? Someone please confirm, because neither I nor my friends can clearly remember. :nervous:

they weren't on the ceiling per se, but they definitely put the same visuals that were on the 2 main screens on the ceiling as well. i noticed this when we were in there watching cantrelle, while taberner was still playing in blueberi (waiting for jvm)

Anyone know much about the F40fd? It takes both SD and xD cards (and I have several SD's but no xD's). Then again, it will probably be hundreds of dollars higher since it's new (can't even find it for sale in the States).

There's a rebate going on the F30, and using some Amazon gift certificates that I have, would be less than what I paid for the Giant Maximus partay! I just can't get over the quality of those pics, my Canon couldn't even come close (though I know a good deal of it has to do with the photographer!) :)

Here's the 411 on the Fuji F40fd for anyone who's interested (if not, just page down to the next message). The F40fd is an update of the F20/21, not the F30/31fd. Although it does take both xD and SD flash cards, it doesn't offer as many manual controls. Also, "While the camera surpasses preceding FinePix models with the added fd-geared options, the F40fd will sit below the recently launched F31fd in Fuji's F-series, carrying a lower maximum sensitivity of ISO 2000, compared to the F31fd's top ISO 3200 setting."

There may be a F50/F51fd in the future that updates the F30/31fd, but this is just speculation so far. The "fd" is a feature that supposedly puts everyone's face in focus, not really worth the money, from what I've read.

Also, per Fuji, don't waste your money on higher speed "H" cards. These F series cameras just downgrade the speed since they can't handle it, so the "M" type are just as fast (Olympus 2GB xD type M flash cards are about $55 now). There's a $50 rebate on all F30's purchased from Fuji authorized dealers from 10/5/06 thru 1/31/07 if anyone else is thinking about getting one or maybe got one already but didn't know about the rebate...

From (about 50) reviews that I read, this is THE camera for low-light environments. Just go back and look at Greg's pics for proof! Sorry for hijacking the Giant Maximus Review thread, but you'll be seeing a lot better pictures now in these reviews, so it all comes together! :D

Two of my Armin vids comin' at you soon after I finish Youuuuuuuuuuuuuutuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuubiiiiiiiiiiiiing them!

Right on Don. Sounds like your coming to the same conclusion as I did. The F30 is not a magic bullet though. I took 200+ pics and alot of them looked like crap. Look at the pics of Kristina. Terrible and those were the best. While its looks to be the low light king of compact cameras, it still doesn't give you the low light image quality of a digital SLR like Drew, Chris or Clovis use. A f2.8 lens can only capture so much light. But who wants to carry around a big camera while parting?

I also used very little jpeg compression on the images posted when I resized them. Look at the size (kb) of the images. Makes a big difference on these type of pics.

Yeah, threw out 99% of mine though to get 10-15 good ones too. Usually it's only about 80% or so, so the lighting was not that great! I'm curious to know how the F30 does in close up flash pictures (a few feet away), because I read that the "close-up" setting must be used for that, and the focus time gets delayed a lot?

I haven't noticed any problems when using a flash close up. But I've only had the camera since Christmas. I don't know what the "close up" setting would be. I generally use the camera in manual mode.
