I, unfortunately, was not feeling to well either.
Aside from that, I had a great night!

We waited over an hour and a half for the cab to get to our place. We arrived just in time to wait in line for drinks, drink a couple of sips and countdown.

It was nice to see the few TAs that I did see!!

Got to Giant Maximus around 9PM where we scored the best parking space for an event, ever. VIP was the way to go, IMO. I usually don't go for VIP, but it was well worth it for a seating area, drinks, etc. Heard some of Mark Tabberner (not overly keen, tbh) and then caught quite a bit of Jimmy Van M's set. Jimmy's set was solid, he was building it up and banging it out more than I've heard him do with previous opening sets. Then Sasha and Diggers came on just before the New Year which is where I was for the countdown. Wandering in between tents throughout the night, I heard a bit of Sander and (shock horror) AvB (who I'd never heard before). To my surprise and chagrin, AvB did play some decent tunes, but then he'd go off into an overly trance direction and would lose me completely. After Sander finished in the middle tent, Justin Gourley and John Do were playing some really good records just after 3AM. I was finally and properly sucked into the S+D vortex at about 4AM and stayed there until it ended just around 6AM. I thought S+D were good, though admittedly, I didn't really get focused until about 4AM on what they were doing as there were just too many distractions.

Went for a kip, shower, meal, etc...

Then it was off back to Downtown for the Giant afterparty. We didnt' stay there too long as we were just hanging out there waiting for Monday Night Social to open up in Hollyweird.

We headed to Monday Night Social where we had heard rumours at Giant that DJ Three would be playing. This prospect was very exciting to me as the first time I ever heard Three was at the Giant NYE afterparty bash back in 2001/2002. I had also missed his set at T Bar in London just 3 weeks prior due to unforseen circumstances... so I was definitely craving a DJ Three fix (I hadn't heard a live set from him since Fabric 2003). Three delivered a great set and we closed down Monday Night Social at 2AM.

All in all it was a good NYE/NYD. Ran into a bunch of friendly faces from all over the world...

I had a great time at Giant. I got there kind of late, around 11:30, and headed over to the Sasha and Digweed tent for the countdown. Stayed in there for a while and then I spent most of the night in Armin and Ferry's tent unitl 5AM when it was back to Sasha and Digweed to close out the night. I really liked Ferry and Armin's sets.

I didn't think it was cold inside at all, but when I was waiting in line for the ferris wheel outside and during the ride, it was freezing.

Bad -

That nasty TAB Red Bull wanna be drink they were mixing with vodka for the the "VIP" Red Bull and vodka drinks. I've never seen or drank that TAB drink before, but it tasted horrible.

Bathroom lines before 2:00 were pretty long, but as the night went on it wasn't so bad.

Good -

Seeing Digweed come up to Armin and wish him a happy new year while I was standing right next to both of them. :) I thought that was cool of Digweed since he was still playing in the other tent and had to come all the way over to Armin's stage just to wish him a happy new year and then go back to playing at his own stage.

Not "too" crowded IMO. There were plenty of people, but it wasn't hard to move around and get in and out of the areas.

I thought it was nice of Giant to have the EMTs walking around in case someone got sick.

Nice seeing TA's having a good time - tranceaholic (original TA bodyguard), gehzumteufel, mindshifter's girlfriend? (whoever Ben introduced me to, couldn't hear . . .), Shooting Star 4 (sorry you weren't feeling good), TSG, KarenLuvs2Party, approximalia (don't think you recognized me ...), DJ Woody (kept running into you all over the place) and of course sweetcandy girl :)

Good night was had indeed!

My hubby and I went for Ferry and Armin but hardly stayed in that tent. We were there for the countdown(after standing in line for drinks), stayed for a few songs then went to see S&D. I only left the tent to go to the bathroom(which took FOREVER) twice. Then we finally left the tent to check out Sander for the last 20-30 minutes, went back to S&D for a few more then to see Armin for like 1/2 hr.

Was it me or did one of them play a "new" version of French Kiss? CLASSIC TUNE!! One of my all time faves. According to my camera time stamp it was around 330 when they played it. I have it on video but my laptop is not functioning and I dont "do things" on my hubbys computer except check msgboards and mail.

All in all, nice people around, met new TAs and saw familiar ones. I was smilin from ear to ear when we left(430). And when I woke up, I was still smilin and I was even jumping around like a little girl:D .

One more thing...MERTO RED LINE IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!

I showed up around 11pm. By the time I got there, I was already pretty hammered. I had taken some Patron and Belvedere at my friend’s house. Whoa!!!

Anyhow, I got there and the line to get in was INSANE! I was disappointed that the will call VIP had to pick up their tickets on the same line as the regular will call. Oh well. Luckily, the line moved FAST! I got my ticket within 5 minutes. Than, off to the VIP Entrance. NO Line whatsoever, and guess what... NO SEARCHING or NO CARDING!!! Ha!!!

Anyhow, I walk in and was a bit disappointed on the VIP area. I thought it was supposed to be a RAISED Platform, OVERLOOKING Sasha & Digweed? Tiesto en Tijuana had just that... a RAISED VIP Area, Overlooking Tiesto. hmmm Anyhow...

The bathroom lines were ridiculous... I was in line along with other old school TA's as we rang in the New Year!!! YAY!!! What a way to ring in the New Year!

So I saw Julia for a bit, than I was off on a mission to look for my friends from Mexico. I found them, and hanged out with them for a bit, then went back to look for Julia and BAM! I NEVER SAW HER AGAIN! I looked for her most of the night. :( Awwwww that bummed me out cuz I was really looking forward to hanging out with her since we rarely see each other anymore.

I did a lot of walking Sunday. I kept going back and forth between the S&D and the trance stage. And honestly, the trance wasn't cutting it for me. I was just there with some friends. Than, back to S&D... They were awesome, but my back was killing me and my feet hurt so much. I was in pain, and that took away from my enjoyment. I didn't really dance; I just stood by the rails enjoying the music. Wow, I'm getting old! :( I wish there was somewhere to sit.

The open bar was good, but since I was already drunk, I didn't take advantage of it. What I did do was get all my friends FREE DRINKS!!! Hahaha, I made a deal with the bartender, where I would just go up to him and he already had my drinks ready. He told me he could give me two at a time, but that I could "take them to your friends and come back for more." hahaha so I did that. When the bar closed, I bought 2 bottled waters and they were ridiculously expensive!!!! $7 EACH!!! OUCH! :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

I don't do drugs, so I stayed drug-free all night. I was just too en drunk. And for some reason, I kept running into Maribel & Tranceseeker all over the place!!! HAHAHA That was awesome. I've known the two for many years already. Heck, they're two cool old school TA's. Haha

When I got really tired and needed to escape from everything, I would go backstage where it was quiet and lonely. I would look at the crowd, enjoying the party, and I would think to my self... , THIS PAIN IS KILLING ME.

Than I got hungry, I went and waited a long time in line for some Chicken that tasted worse than the cardboard box my headphones came in. But it; I had to get some food on my stomach. Than BAM! There's Maribel & Tranceseeker again! hahaha that was hilarious!

I like the fact that it wasn't too crowded, and you could move easily. That was good.

I ran into many many friends and TA's all over the place, as a matter of fact, too many to mention. But I will say it was great seeing TRANCEAHOLIC. I haven't seen him in years! All the OG TA's were there... We were just missing NICK! Awwww That was my homie NICK!!! But TAREK! It was GREAT SEEING YOU AGAIN!

Michelle, You rock! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. Julia! I'm bummed out, we didn't hanged out. I missed you! CLOVSHA & BASWEED!!! Ha! Great seeing you two. Clovsha, what I said about the mushroom mix, I meant it. Haha

Anyhow, too many TA's to list. Awesome times.
DjWoody
Oh yeah, BTW, DIGWEED ROCKS!!! I think I like him more than Sasha. He banged it out hard. I stayed til the end, and WOW! I Was amazed with Digweed. I think he's on my Top 5 again.

The guy playing in the middle tent was GOOD Too... It wasn't Sander, it was some asian guy. He was good.

The trance arena was boring to me. I think i'm over trance.

Was the Asian guy John Do? Him and Justin played after Sander K. Or maybe Trent Cantrelle, but he doesn't look that asian :p

I lol'd at the no carding thing, especially after Clovis took so long to get his ID :stongue:

Anyhow, nice to finally meet Ben (ghezemtefule) and Hadi.

Did they play Spacegypsies - True Love Never Dies? I remember telling Hadi about it, but I'm not sure why :p

yeah they played this, good .

also cantrelle was on before sander, we were checking him out b/c taberner played 40 painful minutes over his set time (n) that guy is complete that's all i'm gonna say 'bout him.

i'm glad i had my earplugs lol.

well we stayed til the end and then caught a ride to our hotel with greg and lia (thanks guys!) lounged a bit showered up and then caught a cab to LAX to get on an earlier flight.

i've got a load of video that i'm going to up to YT now, and I don't think I have any ID's that were missed.

this easily slides into "best NYE of my life to date" category.

good to see all the TA's again and meet new ones.
