Involver 2 (pg. 23)

It's just staggering to me that at 40 PPP, we have a 7 page thread on Involver 2 with absolutely no information about it.
None. Zero. Zilch. Bupkus. Etc.
I would actually relish someone proving me wrong and providing some concrete info, but it hasn't happened yet, and at this point I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that he's toured on the hype for this compilation at least twice now and given his fans nothing more than some of the most boring DJ sets I've ever heard. |

| He definitely rocked it here in Philly. I enjoyed what Digweed played a lot more but the stuff from Sasha was playing definitely complimented the set. Although, I can't see any of it being put on an Involver album, given what was on the first. |

Sasha DJ sets =/= Sasha & Digweed DJ sets.
In the 5 times I've seen him since 2003, he's only been good/entertaining once. |

I think the more alarming thing is that every piece of info we've heard from people who should KNOW something concrete, has been wrong. From Sasha, his managers, people who work with him, people at various websites and connected to various labels...we've got this patchwork of half truths and teasing spanning about 2 years now, from when we first heard through the woodwork that this project was indeed on the radar.
Coupled with the fact that Sasha's recent sets and musical direction have not interested me at all, I really don't think I care about this anymore in the slightest. Plenty more mixes, albums etc that I KNOW are coming out to look forward too. |

That's why I'm worried that Involver 2 shouldn't have even made an appearance. |

Saw him solo, once here in Philly and I wasn't impressed. I told people that and they looked at me like I had two heads. Funny thing was, I didn't even know who he was at the time. :D |

I'm sure there's a rant from me somewhere earlier in this thread, but I too think there shouldn't even be an Involver 2.
The first was brilliant, and part of what made it brilliant was that it was a unique approach to a compilation that worked very well because of both Sasha's choice in tunes, but also because of how intimately the producers worked with him to create a set of music with (IMO) perfect flow.
If history is any guide, artists who've tried to replicate previous moments of genius almost always fall short, or at the very least, have such high expectations levied upon them by their fans that it becomes absolutely impossible for the sequel to even come close to having the impact the original had.
I still think that the Fundacion concept would have played much, much better as a series than Involver. |

| Fundacion could have been the new GU series, I dunno why he let it fade away. |

Can't disagree with that. I haven't taken that CD out of my car since high school.

Fundaction is a totally different ball game from Involver though, which I am sure you would agree with. Assuming the future releases of Involver follow the same path and workload, it has the potential of being a wonderful series. But, as we all know, ask anybody which of the three CD's, three movies, etc is their favorite, and more often than not the reply is undoubtedly: "The first one." |

As superficial as it may sound - I really think even the name of the first Fundacion (Fundacion: NYC) lent itself to further entries in the series.
Involver just seems to me to be one of those things that was done so perfectly just that once, that to try and repeat it is tantamount to sacrilige.
The best analogy I can give is that it would be like Danger Mouse trying to make another/follow up version of "the Gray Album." |
